Looks like the pumps that are faulty are DENSO pumps. The impellers can swell and contact housing/volute.

Seems like something you'd notice within the first 100 miles of driving. not 5 years. This is clearly a major, major cya by Toyota.

Good information dude. Per this document, there are only 46,112 Tundra's Potentially Involved. The big numbers hit Tacoma, Highlander and Corolla. But this document is dated January 13, 2020.

I will continue to check my VIN on a weekly basis. Mine still shows GOOD TO GO.

Thanks for posting it. Pretty sure mine is doing this. It’s nice to see in the tsb that this is actually covered under the emissions warranty which is 96 months or 80k miles instead of the typical 36 months warranty. Incase anyone needs this done.

I wonder if this recall could be related to this loss of acceleration issue: https://www.tundratalk.net/threads/loss-of-engine-power.113732/

I had it happen once in my 2014 5.7L Tundra, at that time it was bone stock other than the TRD exhaust. I tried to accelerate from a stopped light, truck lost acceleration after hitting 15mph or so and started slowing down. Let off the accelerator and coasted a little, tried again and it's been driving fine since. I've tried to reproduce it so I could tell the dealership what happened, but no luck. I never bothered taking it in because if I can't reproduce it I doubt they could either.

When I saw the recall I thought that it could be related, but my truck falls outside the scope.

Was the engine revving up? I think I have 2nd or 3d gear slipping/flaring sometimes on my new Tundra. It finally harshly shifts into a gear, after a few seconds. By then I realize how it smells and drop the pedal.

Not that I remember, but it’s been a few years.

I was driving home from a store, so it wasn’t warming up or anything... it should have been fully warmed up. The way I remember it feeling was just as if I took my foot off the pedal, the engine quieted down and I lost acceleration.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Just a heads up, my 2017 with 55,000 miles started showing hesitation at start up.

I took my truck over to my dealership even though I’m not part of the recall. After hooking up the trucks computer and confirming the hard starts my mechanic said I’ll be requiring a new fuel pump and my truck regardless will be part of the recall.

However as you can imagine Denso’s new fuel pumps are backlogged. For now my trucks computer was updated with the software of the new pump as a band aide until I get the new fuel pump. So far so good with the initial start ups. My dealer / mechanic is keeping in touch with me to any changes until the new pumps are available.

I thinking of install a fastback pump system. I installed one on a diesel and the fuel was always, need to do some research first. Buts had excellent results.

If you want to drop off the vehicle at the dealership do so and they will give you a rental for the time the vehicle is in the shop. just tell them that yits unsafe to drive .

On my 2017 Tundra with 42K miles started having issues last week. Took the truck into the dealership yesterday. Late this afternoon they told me it was part of the Recall for the TSB. They are able to provide a loner (Van or Corolla), but the pump itself is back ordered till APRIL 30th. WTF

Not keen on keeping my truck at the shop for 35 DAYS, but I have no option.. Looks like I will be driving a van for over a month...

    Update 4.27.20:
Truck is still in the shop. The update I got today is that they still do not know when it will be fixed due to the shortage.... Getting Irritated especially since I am into the season where I need to haul
