There is an open recall for the fuel pump. Mostly 18 or 19's affected. Toyota has said they do not have a solution or the new pumps ready yet.

search doesn't work great on this site but there are many threads in the laSt month on this site with all the details.

Did you run your vin # to see if you are on the recall list?

The thing is, if you posted that same poll on a Chevy, Ford, or Dodge website, you’d actually get a lot of people participating.

The low pressure fuel pump recall is real. I was notified by NHTSA that our 2019 RX350L is going to be recalled in March. I contacted the dealer, and they’re putting together a waiting list; looks like over 600K toyota products are going to be recalled. Some dealers are recommending that the involved cars should not be driven. They don’t have enough fuel pumps available, so mine may be done by the end of the year.

Well I was at the dealership yesterday for maintenance with both my 19 Tundra and wife’s 19 Highlander. Hers is not part of the recall as of now, mine is. Asked about the fix and he said nothing as of now, have a good day and let me drive right off the lot. Guess they don’t care about my safety :(

I logged on to my Toyota account and there are no open recalls for my vehicle. Can anyone provide the vin range? Just to make sure.

I got the letter yesterday. No fix yet, will contact when available. Kind of ominous since the truck could konk out in traffic. Runs like a champ right now.

Where did you find this? I went here for my 2017: https://www.toyota.com/recall and it shows "There are no open Safety Recalls or Service Campaigns for this vehicle.", but it obviously falls into what that TSB says is applicable. That almost makes it sound like it's also a programming issue not strictly pump though?

Yes, I tried that link on their website but all it does is spin and never loads. Is this recall for flex fuel engines only or all engines?

Got the letter too, are they trying to figure out a cheap fix or what??? They should just drop the tank and change out the fuel pump.
I think it’s all tundra and a lot of cars too

I think the fuel pumps they used may be inadequate for the task under high loads. Probably will require a higher output pump which they don't have at this time. Just guessing from the tone of the letter.

A higher output pump will sure make the “i buy a 5.7l V8 truck MPG complainer’s” heads explode.

But there are a lot of cars involved too not just trucks and suv. A corolla don’t Need the high load.

I think they must have been using pumps of different manufacture for a couple years. My 18 falls within the recall window, but my truck is not included. My brother in law’s 19 is.

-does Toyota build its own pumps, and if so at how many locations?

-does Toyota buy it’s pumps from 3rd party vendors, and if so, who and how many?

    - what are the substantive differences between the recall and non-recall pumps?

anyone know an answer to any of these?

Let me go look through my pile of recalls... I think I have three so far on my 2018, mostly safety equipment that I am not going to bother with. If I received a recall every month, I would still never switch to a Dodge.

Don’t sweat it guys no manufacturer is perfect , they’ll get them done . By the sound of things you just shouldn’t drive at a high rpm until the pump gets replaced .

I never got a notice, so it might not apply to everyone? Forgive my lack of knowledge, can an aftermarket pump be put in? I know some of the Taco guys would upgrade theirs with supercharger mods.
