I am not exactly going out on a limb here to say that the OP has returned and given a response that is incoherent.

“Just quit working in January and took it in said new they where bad and was Toyota was only going to repair the one's that went out at first.”

    WTF??!

I knew mine was part of the recall because I ran the vin. Officially got the letter yesterday, I’m on the gas all the time I have aftermarket exhaust so I tend to rev it to high rpms no issues, Not saying it couldn’t happen but Toyota is just covering there a$$. If they didn’t recall them and a shit ton of people were involved in crashes because of it they would have lawsuits on their hands for knowing they had faulty pumps out there and doing nothing about it. I bought a 2002 Grand Prix GTP brand new, it had a recall on it about 4 years later because the engine could catch fire. I put over 250k miles on it and got rid of it in 2014 when I got my first Tundra, it never caught fire.

The TSB I posted on previous page came out BEFORE the official fuel pump recall and is not necessarilly related (I'm familiar with the TSB issues, but less sure about the recall and thinking that that is a specific problem with different part that has different part numbers-im sure someone can research and find out) . TSB is specific to Flex fuel problems with the pump communicating to the ECM. There was like 3-5 previous TSB iterations to the same issue (cold start problems, surging, very high alch % reading), but it seems that all of them only fixed the problem for a few thousand miles, then somewhere along the way the engine would relearn its old problem and start misreading alcohol percentages and screw up ratios. IMHO, this is either caused by faulty ECM coding, or some component of the flex fuel pump that is throwing off readings to the computer and offsetting ratios.

From what I understand, Toyota is manufacturing a new pump part that is not available yet. This is not official and just what I've heard and read. Also, please understand that the TSB issue should only be addressed with your truck if you are actually having the problems discussed. It certainly doesn't apply to every truck in those year ranges, and you'd be adding to the problem if just replacing your good pump with a new good pump limiting availability (current backorder is like 6 months) for those that actually have problems.

That is a lot of vehicles. Especially when only 100k tundras are sold per year. But upon further reading it’s only 1.2 million in the US.

My truck's pre-delivery service occurred on 12/18/17 with six miles on the odometer which pre-dates the production period listed for Tundra.

Took mine in for 15k service today and was informed mine is part of this recall. No fix yet and no ETA as to when it will actually be addressed.

It's weird that the years for the Tundra listed are 2018-2019. Mine is a 2017 and I had the issue of the faulty fuel pump which was replaced under warranty and was told that Toyota new about the problem back then. Now I have been waiting since the beginning of Jan, because the fuel sending unit went out less than a week after I got my truck back after it was at the dealership for almost three weeks for the fuel pump. I am being told back then that the part is on backorder. I was told yesterday that it should be here sometime next week.

My Tundra is under recall, I bitched to Toyota as the wife and I are driving to Florida in April. How can I trust my truck to make it, or not get stranded in the middle of nowhere? Will get the word today if Toyota will provide a rental car for our trip, will update when I find out...

From what I'm reading it looks like the Tundra's that are listed in the recall are the ones with the 26.4 gal fuel tanks. My 19 PRO has the 38 gal fuel tank, and it's VIN was not flagged in the recall. Have read that the 38 gal fuel tanks utilize a different fuel pump. Does this make sense? Or did I just get lucky?

I have a non-Flex fuel 38gal 2019 that is not part of the recall according to the Vin lookup. Another site indicated the that this recall is only associated with Flex Fuel Toyota vehicles.

    Curious:
    • Does anyone here have a non Flex Fuel Tundra that is part of the recall?
    • Does anyone have have a non Flex Fuel Tundra that has a 39 gal tank that is part of the recall?

When I look up my 2019 Limited on https://www.toyota.com/owners/resources/recalls there is a statement about the fuel pump recall, but it says that they do not yet have a remedy. Mine is not a flex fuel and I do have the 38 gallon tank.

Interesting that the 2020’s are not included in the recall. If Toyota changed/fixed something for 2020 why wouldn’t that fix work for the recalled trucks?

My guess is the recall will be expanded to include the 2020’s at some point.

my 2019 Platinum is non flex and is part of it.

Recall has nothing to do with size of tank or flex fuel or not. Looks like it strictly has to do with build dates.

They are adding VINs over time. Our Sequoia wasn't on the list a week ago, now it is.

2018, non flex. Everyone can sit and try to guess who, what, why..... but why? Is what it is.

I agree. No one knows the reason. It could be a part from a specific vendor. Just wait-and-see

I have an 18, 38gal, non flex. Purchased 4/2018. It is not subject to the recall.

My BIL has a 19, 38gal, non flex. It IS part of the recall.

I think they must have been using pumps of different manufacture for a couple years. My 18 falls within the recall window, but my truck is not included. My brother in law’s 19 is.

-does Toyota build its own pumps, and if so at how many locations?

-does Toyota buy it’s pumps from 3rd party vendors, and if so, who and how many?

    - what are the substantive differences between the recall and non-recall pumps?

anyone know an answer to any of these?
