I would suggest to check condition of diff side axle seal. When I replaced my axle, forgot to check the seal and was leaking with a slow after installation.

I have to give you kudos for knowing when to call a pro...it isn't easy for a lot of guys to swallow their pride, admit their failure and call in the professionals. I've been in your shoes in the past, its humbling...

It looks like he had to pull the axle assembly and reassemble the CV joint. I saw this video on YouTube where they show how to fix a slipped/disconnected CV joint.

Good luck, hope you are back on the road soon! Hats off to you.

This is exactly what happened. Hopefully the guy won't charge me an arm and a leg but he has done me solid by coming out to my house.

Thanks for the support. It was a tough pill to swallow but I know my skill level is low and no need for further delays or expenses. My one concern is I hope I have the courage to pick up a wrench again. At least next time I will make sure I have someone with the knowledge and experience to help as I learn.

I was able to get this fixed. Mechanic came out to my house and removed the CV joint. Took it to the shop, rebuilt it, installed it at my house, then finished putting on the UCAs and drivers side suspension. Cost me an additional $200 and a lot of frustration to learn a lesson.

Yes we shall see what they say about fixing it though. Do you know where they got the rebuild kit?

I agree. There were other cost for install, but the $200 was just to fix my mistake. I thought the mechanic was reasonable, especially since I was in a tough spot without many options. I’ve since given him some more business on a few smaller things as another way to say thanks.

So can I ask is one lesson here to not remove the uca when putting in coil overs? I have considered doing this job myself as everything on YouTube looks easy. But now I am hesitant.

Do not remove the UCA remove bottom bolts LCA. The Cam bolts for alignment to swing down. Front of them on front and back. Remove sway bar on ground before lifting truck. Best of luck

^This. You’ll will see videos on YouTube where they remove the UCA, it’s easier to remove the LCA and let it swing down by loosening the cam bolts.
