It should. I installed an aftermarket Pop N Lock and my brother in law installed a Toyota genuine mechanism, and both work off of our integrated key fob.

My opinion is Ford cannot be compared to Tundra. Ford can be compared to Fiat (Dodge, and GM) as those fall into a category I like to call "soccer-dad" luxury trucks.
Toyota keeps it simple with the tundra and tacoma lineup and I personally will take reliability over a 10" touchscreen any of the week.
I am hoping the next generation of Tundra or an addition to their truck lineup is a 1ton truck capable of towing the 15k plus travel trailer/5th wheel.
I will never purchase another ford again after an '08 f250 6.4l I purchased new gave me nothing but problems and crapped out right at 100k.

They can; and it does work off the fob.

Regarding remote start with the key fob, I'm not sure what trim levels have this, but I know the 1794 and Platinum have it, and I'm pretty sure the TRD Pro has it too. For some reason, Toyota just doesn't advertise it. I think they are just trying to sell the app plan after the first year.

Just bought a new 2020 1794 CrewMax with TRD Off Road for what a well equipped F150 XLT would have cost me. No doubt that the quality of the Toyota is better and should last. I've owned all of the Big 3 and this Tunda is without doubt the best vehicle I've owned. It's missing a few options that I could have got on one of the domestics, but the long term durability and reliability was a worthwhile tradeoff.

I know. I said "domestics" out of habit. My brother has a Silverado that was made in Mexico. My Toyota was made in the USA. When I ordered my last Ram I had to specify that I'd only accept one from the Michigan plant, unless they were going to give me a Mexican Ram for $10k less. The salesman didn't understand what I was talking about. I've had several conversations with folks lately about which one is actually the American truck...

Actually the Mexico made RAM is probably better than the Michigan made one. I remember 60 Minutes exposed the Chrysler/Dodge/Daimler/Fiat/Whatever plant to be full of highly paid union drunks and stoners....

The published payload may be higher, but the lighter truck will be yanked all over the highway by the trailer! I would not feel safe in that situation. Just yesterday, with streets wet, I witnessed a 70's era F150 get pushed through a red light by a trailer with a golf cart on it. That driver was VERY lucky that there was no cross traffic at that moment!

    A bunch
Essentially both frames and suspensions are just as capable and weigh the same - but the F150 body panels and engines weigh less. That simplifying it for sure, but it's to present the concept. So the Tundra and F150 frames and suspension can both handle 7000 lbs (rough number for an example) but the F150 weighs 5000 lbs and the Tundra weighs 5500 lbs. Therefore the F150 has 500 lbs extra available that the frame and suspension can handle.

True, f150 does weigh less minus the raptor weighs the same as ours.

GVWR yes Ford has the upper hand. Hell my dads 12 F150s has a 7,500 GVWR compared to my/our 7,200.

I have weighed my Tundra. All I have is a spray in bed liner and steps. 6,400 pounds with me in it and absolutely nothing else. You only have 700 lbs. left. Ford is somewhere around 800 pounds lighter? That is where extra payload comes from.

I have pulled a 6.5 x 14 trailer with a small sub compact tractor on it. Weighs about 5,000 pounds. Also, pulled it with my Uncle's new Ford F-150 3.5 ecoboost. It is absolutely no comparison, the Tundra handles it much much better due to weight. Plenty of power in the Ford but it swayed a lot. The tail wagged the dog so to speak. Much better braking with Tundra also.

Extra weight will handle a trailer much better. I wonder if the 2 companies use different standards for weight. I have carried 1500 lbs of corn + myself and gear in mine. Pushing 2000 lbs and NP.

    1. I've got a 2020 SR5, and while it doesn't come with the truck (I had to have it installed, or you can install it yourself), it does indeed lock with the rest of the doors, with the fob.

    2. You can indeed remote start your truck from the fob; press the lock button (I think it is) twice, and then on the 3rd press, hold it till the truck starts.

I drove my 2006 F150 5.4l for 236k miles. I changed my oil every 5000 miles with full synthetic oil, without fail and never had a major issue. Ever. I loved that truck, pulled like I wanted it to, lived its life in front of a trailer.

    BUT

When the AC failed, I had it at the dealership, an indy shop, a second indy shop and finally a third. Third shop fixed it, and warrantied it for two years. In those two years, they replaced every single part. Twice. Still wasnt right.

Then the transmission quit at 218k. Once I fixed it, I really started second guessing its longevity. To be honest, I didn't do much other maintenance other than plugs every 100k and two serpentine belts. But when that AC quit, and no one could fix it, I was done. I bought a Tundra for its durability and reliability. I don't like it as much inside as my F150, by far. And I had an older Lariat with out all the crazy fancy bells and whistles the new ones have. Still nicer inside my Tundra.

I just want a truck that can work for a living, look good doing it, that wont need much attention (other than routine maintenance). I think that the Tundra fits that bill.

And yes I take shit from my Ford/Chebby driving pals. Dont care.

I got a new 2011 F150 Lariat in 2012. I traded it in for a 2019 TRD Pro last fall and am ticked to death with the choice. The only thing the F150 beats the Tundra on is fuel mileage. Still worth it.

I work with both die hard Chevy and Ford owners. The last time trucks come up, they seemed to put their usual feud aside and go after me and the Tundra. I played along for a while, then simply asked them each to name their favorite service consultant at their respective dealer. Both went to exclaim how they loved their guy or girl, and how they take great care of them when they have had their trucks in for warranty work.

I then shrugged my shoulders and said that I don't need to visit often enough to recognize any of the people...

this is also very true. I opted for my tundra for resale and cost of entry, was my first truck, not sure if i'd want it long term (came from a 7 series bmw). That said, i absolutely will never live without a truck now. Tundra has served me well, but i'll go into one of the big 3 on my next truck.

I grew up in Michigan, I remember the stories of drug rings being run out of the GM plants in the area I lived in the 1980s and 90s. I can’t complain since GM put food on my table as a child and paid for my college edumacation.

Years ago when Camaro's were still being built in Van Nuys, Kalicommiefornia, a friend of mine who worked there for years got his loser drop out of highschool son a job at the GM plant. Sweeping up milling machine tailings for $25 per hour in 1990. The "union" took a 3rd of his pay tho...

I can tell you I've had a lot of old Toyota vehicles in the past and I would not hesitate buying another old Toyota just to drive around know will not break down (as any old Ford.).

Hell my supervisor complains about his ford focus and transmission problems, slipping during snow it loses its gearing.

I was sold an old 1986 AE86 to a guy from New Jersey and flew to Seattle and drove it all the way back to NJ and only used that one quart of oil through the entire trip there was no problems with the vehicle at all even though it was old and had pretty decently high mileage. This was about 15 years ago.

he eventually emailed me and said that he made it home safely and said would email me photos of his planned modifications but I never received any further updates I'm glad he made it home.

Try doing that with the Ford.

It was not uncommon in the 80s and 90s for GM Assembly line factory workers to make $80k-90k (with a lot of OT of course)...GM at its peak in the 80s had >700,000 employees. I’ll let the Goog-a-lator tell you how many they have now.
