Funny that you mention this. I went out to make sure I was using the steering wheel. Turns out same as you I don't use anything other than the step

Just ordered mine from Sparks. The '17 versions were a different item number and were on sale, $145.51 shipped. Looking forward to installing this since I've caught myself using my steering wheel to get in and out, not a good practice since I did this with my last ride ('08 Nissan Frontier) and ended up having to replace the clock spring due to the pressure it put on the cables.

I got mine on Monday from Sparks. I didn’t like the little bolt and u-nut they supplied. No hardness markings on the bolt head. I am not like the average Joe. I have a bit to weight to pull up there. I had a 5/16 Grade 8 bolt in my junk buckets and went to Lowes and found a u-nut that was smaller than what was provided (shorter) and it does not even come close to the air bag. Took more time to go get another u-nut than to install the grab bar. Momma likes it too!

Does anyone else have this 'bulge' after their install? If you look closely you can see the edge of the skirt does not follow the edge of the windshield border. I checked the passenger side and it looks like it's supposed to be in-line.

When I installed, I made sure nothing was in the way of the plastic tabs on the inside of the skirt piece but it still seems like something is in the way. Is my only option to trim the tabs?

I did this mod today. I was a little OCD about it, and it still only took 30 minutes.

    I went the: M6-1 x 30mm, 6MM Flat Washer, M6-1 U-nut, route.
Bolt and washer readily available at ACE hardware. The U-nut (speed nut) I did have to get from Autozone.

Shout out to NK1794 (post 121 in this thread). His video was very helpful. I wouldn’t have thought about disconnecting the battery. Smart.

I grabbed this a week ago in anticipation of the job. Made popping open the SRS cap to access the bolt a breeze.

Looks like you may have overnighted the bolts.

That's what I was thinking but if I loosen the bolts any more then I can feel a 'click' whenever I pick myself up using the bar. Granted, I'm not the lightest guy

You may need to add a spacer (washer) between the A pillar trim and the steel mount to allow you to torque up the bolt without deforming the plastic.

Note: I noticed the passenger side does have a little flex from the factory.

I put the grab bar on my ‘20 and got the same bulge in the pillar trim.

I’ve got it too. My OCD isn’t as bad so I let it go. I’ll try the washer trick

I just installed mine on my 2020 TRD Pro and noticed the same issue. Not quite as bad as yours. Honestly you really can’t notice it that much, but I would much rather have it straight.

Are the grab handles generation specific? Meaning, if I find a used one off a gen2 will it fit on a gen3. That includes the pillar fitment as well?

The part numbers are the same from 2007 to 2020. Just make sure you get the right color.

Yep that will happen when the bolts are overtightened. I had to back off a little on mine

Where is the "seller/supplier" list? I would love to find these parts for the mod. (new member, still finding my way around)

Sparks Parts sells a kit with everything needed. If you get it from just about anyone else, you will need to make a trip to Lowes.

Being in Canada, it was MUCH MUCH cheaper for me to order from Megazip and a 5min trip to Lowes, then order from Sparks.

If you order before the end of the month you will get the shipping for free supposedly, I believe if you put FREESHIP in the order, this particular site here has no sales tax and this was the price that was offered to me

You want part number 050BO though. 060 is the same one you have now. I made same mistake.
