Anyone try to add one? Saw these on a different forum for FJ Cruisers, maybe a retrofit is in order? I guess biggest issues would be interference with airbags and if there's a logical mounting location long the top of the window area as I think the front pillar has the airbag in it. Anyone with more info, please let me know.

You could order this from Toyota: Here are parts numbers.

    Pillar trim:

    62220-0C050-B0 for GRAY

    Handle:

Would that not interfere with the airbag?

Well, all Tundras from 2007 to 2013 had them from the factory. I would imagine if air bag had been an issue, they would've had a recall.

this is a really good and helpful mod. Seems a shame this standard item on previous models was eliminated. I am thankful to these forums for help with solving issues like this.

I sure wish i had one on my 2016. The parts do still fit 2015-2016 correct?

(Unrelated another thing i wish i had was back door pocket storage and more above head roof console storage)

Yes, they fit perfect. I made this mod to my '16 and it looks like factory. The cost was $160.00 from Cool Springs TOYOTA.

I installed my Pillar trim and handle about three ago. Got all of my parts online about $148.00. No pictures...yet. Easy MOD.
    Thanks

I use my grab handle every day to get into the truck. Very useful to have it on the drivers side. For those that don't have it, i would highly recommend getting it.

Thanks for the input. My only concern is the airbag. Does the grab handle version account for this?

Yep it has the SRS Curtain Air Bag logo just above the grab handle.
Passenger side air bag deployment shows its not affected by grab handle.

Attached is a PDF file that takes you through the complete install. Credit for this goes to a member at another tundra forum. Easy install, but the 1/4x20x1.5" must be an all thread bolt. I used a 1.5" shouldered bolt and it required 3 washers before it would tighten up. You could use a 1.25" shouldered bolt with a single washer if you could find one. Anyway, it's an easy and very worthwhile mod.

I hate to tell you but Toyota does not use a 1/4x20 bolt on any vehicle I've seen. All hardware is metric that I know of it may be different with a Tundra but all hardware I have ever seen on a Toyota is metric.

When I install mine I'll get the metric numbers if they in fact metric as I assume they are.

IF YOU READ the PDF file in the #24 post on this thread, you will know why a 1/4x20 bolt is being used. Don't assume anything.

Yep didn't read that far I stopped when he said to use a 11 mm on a 1/4x20 bolt.

I just got in the parts and did this mod..Thanks for sharing this info guys! My first real mod on the truck. Here is something weird i found out about my Kobalt socket set...there are 3- 10 mm sockets and one of them is 6mm but marked 10! So i will need to have Lowes take care of that.

    Did mine today. I used a 1" ¼ x 20 all thread bolt with a ¼ x 20 extruded speed nut. Worked great.
