I wonder how much thought and cost went into this design? What was the cost in the Tundra price?
Will there 26 not have it?

You can see all the speakers in the pillars, dash, doors and sub under rear seat. 12 speakers? yes, but some of the speaker units, may contain more than one speaker which means there isn't actually 12 different physical locations in your cab.

It’s quite odd, as the bass sounds as if it is coming from the front of the center console. I knew all along where the sub was, it must be ported through to the console somehow. My oldest son (a music major), can’t imagine a sub not being in the console.

Go into the settings menu and turn off surround sound... it makes the JBL system sound so much better, really a huge improvement. It seems like the bass now comes from the sub in the back instead of rattling the driver and passenger front doors. Give it a shot.

I did exactly that. Two totally different sounds. They both have an exciting sound to me.

But I think it IS real. It uses microphones to pickup the engine’s actual sound and then pumps it into the cabin after some filtering/eq’ing. Am I wrong on that? I thought I read that here somewhere.

You are not wrong. I think they call it a transducer, but it is "real". I thought it was annoying so turned it off.

The microphones are for ANC, not ESE.

Interesting. What else can I do with the Carista deal…seems like a lot of money to turn off one feature.

Seat belt warning chime delete. Blip signal number of flashes. Several others I can’t think to name at the moment.

So, my buddy asked me the other day “you gonna put an exhaust on it?”. Without flinching, I said no. I’m perfectly happy with how it sounds.

Now I’m curious. How many of you that shut off the enhanced sounds have then added an aftermarket exhaust?

Personally, I like how it sounds with the enhancement. That it is augmented, doesn’t bother me.

Well-designed bolt-on body augmentations can be great enhancements!

    1. Fake engine noise off
    2. Annoying seatbelt chimes off
    3. -2 degree tweak to AC system in order to blow more cold air.

Those are what I did, but there are several more options.

None of those bother me. The major annoyances are two-fold:
1.) You can't back up with the driver door open.
2.) The tow tech camera package and panoramic view, if you are having to backup with the tailgate open, or backup anytime with a trailer, the constant nagging beeps, and changes your camera view every time you put it in reverse. It would be so much better if the camera view remained fixed at the last one I selected, and to disable the nagging beeps, reset at the next engine start instead of the next backup event. Bleeping nannies..

    1. Not ideal, but the workaround for your situation is, before you start moving, put the truck back in park then back in reverse when you have the door open .

    2. Again, not ideal, but you can push the OK button on the steering wheel to silence the beeps.

I don't think I've ever needed to back up with the door open. I know some guys who do that to back up a trailer, but I learned to use my mirrors for that.

I can't tolerate any of the nanny parking assist features, so I have all of that turned off, including all the silly camera views. About the only nanny I use is the reverse camera to hitch up a trailer, but I don't even use that for parking.

Oh, I do use adaptive cruise at times. I guess that could be considered a semi-nanny.

Over engineneered B.S. they think they are trying to save us from ourselves, but its so annoying at times the safety crap is more of a distraction than anything else!
