Exactly, it's a gamble either way. Your escaping the storm surge and higher winds at the coast if you move inland but then the rains will flood you there as well. I have family in westen pa just outside Pittsburgh and they got hammered from the remnants of Gordon over the weekend with rain. Flash flooding and many roads impassable and shut down, they could get more rain from this as well if it goes inland.

Everyone in the NC and VA area keep safe. I'm in Columbia, so not expecting a huge impact but this thing is looking to hover over land, not good.

In high point you'll be safe from the storm surge and hurricane force winds. It will still be windy and predicting +20" of rain. Wherever you go, expect to be without power , and expect to be isolated due to localized flooding.

Find a place to stay away from creeks and rivers.

I'm making the call at noon tomorrow.

I'm in Wilmington... Just moved here a month ago. Just finished boarding up the house and plan to head to durham (old house) tomorrow. Packed wife and kid off to DC to visit the out laws.

Fingers crossed it downgrades before it hits land...

Any of you in the path want to take a vacation to Colorado, now sounds like a great idea.

That would be a bad idea to just put more people in distress.

Everyone be safe, looks like this thing is taking a big turn south and now its mostly NC and SC now that's getting the brunt of it.

Still in Beaufort. Spent the day boarding up my 2 largest windows and helping out some friends.

All stocked up. As ready as we can be. Inundation predictions for my neighborhood are still zero feet.

Still vigilant. I could wake up tomorrow and find it turned north again.

Any and all prayers appreciated....Florence is no joke. Generator is staged, plenty of food and water. We live high on a ridge, so flooding non issue. Now we wait...

My sister lives in Mount Pleasant SC. As much as I don't want it here, I don't want it there either.
