First Gen Wheel Spacers

They are stock 2nd gen Tacoma wheels

Which one?? They have different offsets.

 

It’s the 5 spoke TRd sport ones, my truck is basically stock so I’m not sure why stock Toyota wheels would rub

Ya not trying to beat a dead horse, definitely seems to be just offset, but yall really think a 1/4 in shim is not a solution?
Also I moved my truck and I think the camber is fine my alignment is great I just backed in weird to that spot

 

Without knowing the exact wheel so we can lookup offset and calculate the backspace, I don’t know anyone worth their weight in salt who’d be comfortable telling you how large of a spacer to run. It’d also help to know tire size but maybe you shared already and it was on the 1st page.

Based on what I’m seeing visually with the hand in the gap, I’m thinking you may want to run a full 1 - 1.5” spacer, but this is one of those cases where you can under-space and over-space, so those wheel specs definitely matter to get you a GOOD reply….

And I assume you’re aware of the DOS and DONT’S of running spacers right? Like DO use a torque wrench to install the spacer and wheels and DON’T ever let someone impact the spacer or wheels on, that type of thing? There are absolutely risks here if you run alloy spacers. Maybe less of a concern with a steel spacer but ….

 

Yes thanks to yall and this thread I’m educated on spacer dos and don’ts but I’d get a different wheel before doing a spacer

Yeah, you're way in the red on this one, that's even worse than the stock 5-spoke splits which run around 5" backspace, the wheels you have are nearly 5½" backspace.

You need at least 3/4" spacer to get you to 4.75, and if it were me, I'd go with at least 1". potentially 1.25" if you wanted a little bit of poke.

Or just get new wheels. Rocktrix has some killer deals on great wheel styles for our trucks, I got mine for like $500 shipped, full set. Link to pics and wheel info in my signature.

1" spacer minimum. You're basically at positive 1inch.

A 1" spacer would get you at (basically) 0 offset

Have you checked the thread related to poke? It's around here somewhere.

Running your wheel specs thru a basic calculator, you're sitting at the same backspace as the awesome stock 5-spoke wheels - pic below.

A 1" spacer should be sufficient to have you at or just past the fender, you're already sitting ½" farther out than the post you quoted in your reply.
Not sure I'd want to go to 1.25" or larger but it's not my money to spend either, so use your best jugment.
I personally don't think that specific wheel style looks good on our trucks, there are a few folks running them in this thread.

On a Double Cab, for direct reference, with very aggressive A/T tires, and 4.75 backspace and 1.25" spacer (hope my math is right, but 4.75 - 1.25" spacer == 3.5" backspace), this is what that looks like, about 1½" of poke.
I think it's too much, you'd be slinging all kinds of shit all over the sides of your vehicle. Running the Taco wheels you're looking at at 5.0 backspace, running a 1" spacer == 4.0" backspace, or half an inch less than what you're seeing, so around 1" poke?

thanks for the comprehensive reply! i read the entire toyota rims thread and couldn’t find anyone with my rims that also mentioned spacer size. will check poke thread.

i really love the oem split 5 spoke but couldn’t find any and like the looks of these tacoma ones with the black decal. so that’s what i’ll do
