Shifted some bricks so they're gapped. Now I have 6 extras and a smaller diameter. I guess it looks ok. When I get the ground leveled and place them in their final position I even out the gaps.

Gotta get the utilities located so I can make sure I'm clear of everything, then I can level out the ground and place everything permanently. Debating if I want to mortar the bricks in place or not too. Hopefully this will be all set for next weekend though.

    LOL. Nope, thank God.

I could honestly just have at 'er and get to grading and digging, but since I have a background in construction I've seen what happens if you disturb or fuck up an underground utility line. Some lines are within a few inches of the surface. I'd rather not cook one by accident on my first burn. I've already heard back from the electric company, and they're clear. Waiting on gas and comms companies. Shouldn't be more than a couple days.

Hate to admit where I got it, but I bought this one this week at dicks for $150. Pretty thin material, but should get enough use from it.

I wouldn't. Unless it's heat rated it'll crack and fall apart in no time in your climate. It might even help with aeration. A cap stone might look nice, though.

2018 Tundra - Platinum - 3/1 level kit - Fuel Crush 18” / 285/75/18 NRG - Stubby Antenna - TRD Skid plate - NSV light bar - Fuel Crush Wheels - 285/75 R18 Ridge Grapplers - Rear Sway Bar - Tinted Windows - Halo 9 head unit with Focal Speakers, (2) 10" subs and sound deadening throughout the cab - LED interior bulbs - Removed chrome and replaced with color matched mirror caps and black door handles - TRD Shift Knob - Storage unit under rear set - 3/1 Toytec leveling kit - line x bed liner
We built this one out of brick since other parts of the yard use the same brick - lined the inside with concrete then dropped in our older freestanding fire pit inside which makes emptying this pretty easy...

coworker had some retaining wall pavers that he didnt want anymore. cheap, easy and easily replaceable if one breaks burns a pretty good fire! pardon the shitshow of brush behind it. this was taken post hurricane cleanout. theres still a whole bunch of stuff back there i need to clean up.

I’ve got the same one - pretty decent fire pit. Factory coating is for shit, so I repainted it once so far and it probably needs another coat.

I vote no on mortar. It’ll be ‘permanent enough’ without, and fires like air near the bottom, so any gaps could help your fires get going.

I think that's what I'll do. Having the bricks loose will make for easy replacement if one breaks too.

With all this firepit talk, we had our first fire of the year last night.

A few marshmallows and a Coke, it was fun to get out and enjoy the night

Cheap fire pit but a nice setting. We sold the place before I could build a nice stone fire pit. Several nice ones posted here.

Is this the ‘solo stove’ product? If so, how do you like it? I see them all over IG and wonder how they work. That thing must get hot as hell on the outside...

It’s a washing machine drum. And yes, with a good blaze it feels a wee bit tropical around them. :)

This is the cover I have on the Yukon. Works perfect. I also use a cheaper mesh cover I had from an old fire pit.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0797NYBCC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Cover is short by a few inches at the bottom, but haven't noticed any problem with it that way.
