I don't think the sound is "fake". It's definitely amplified or enahanced. I turned mine off using carista, and it sounds the same, just quieter.

Regarding the wind noise, I think the majority is the doors seal. Most users have a whistle above 50 mph around the driver door. Unless in a high cross wind the mirror noise is very little with respect to the the upper door area. Still no proper fix yet?

I suppose it's in the ear of the beholder. I think there is a huge difference; on just sounds silly to me. To my ears, there is a night and day difference. But, as I said in my earlier post, my wife can't tell a difference at all, LOL.

The Carista was money well spent! Can turn off the fake sound any many other things. I turned off my seat belt chime for just the drivers seat (extremely annoying when getting out every couple hundred yards to open gates), turn signal changed from 3-5 clicks, as well as added the option to roll down all windows with a long press of key fob button.
It does in fact work with the 3rd Gen trucks, just have to select the 2nd Gen option when setting up.

Just wish I could turn off the automatic parking brake that sets itself if you put it in drive too fast after closing the door...

While stopped 1st up at a stoplight in the convertible, a new Tundra was opposed to me. I got a good indication of what it sounded like from the outside. The fake V8 sound really needs to come from outside mounted speakers.

The sound is sampled from the combustion chamber so it is the internal engine sound, just amplified thru the JBL. I didnt find it that bad until I towed my loaded cargo trailer ......so irritating

Check post #37 on this thread with a picture of the Carista product that you will plug into your OBD port and follow instructs within the product.. You'll need to purchase a "monthly" subscription for about $10 that you can cancel as soon as changes are made and saved within the vehicle.

I purchased the Carista module, etc, I can see and adjust a good number of things but I don’t see any options for engine sounds is why I’m asking. Thanks!

Gotcha, I don't remember which category it's under but look for one that has two options, ESE and ANC. You only need to turn off ESE (Engine Sound Enhancement) to get rid of the fake engine noise. You should actually leave ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) on as it helps keeps the cabin quieter.
