If he meant charging every day at home then I agree. One of the great benefits of a BEV is that when you're home you wake up to a completely full tank every morning. For commutes that can be completed within the range of the BEV you completely avoid ever having to stop at a gas station for any length of time ever.

That would be awesome!!! My shortest commute ever has been 13 miles one way.

I would charge everyday as well in the comfort of my home. Pretty cool how the vehicles control charge rates.

One thing I have been wondering about.

Outside charging. From what I have seen, a good portion of people don’t use their garages for vehicle parking (usually due to garage depth). Should the charging port be outside and have it lockable?

Does the electrical plug lock into place while charging? What about electrical shock if someone forgets to shut the power off and the weather isn’t optimal (like heavy rain)?

I think a cool feature of the Tacoma concept vehicle is you can use it as battery storage. You can charge at night and use the energy during peak hours to arbitrage the peak vs. off peak electric costs if your utility billing allows this or just use it for emergency generation.

You can install the charging station outside, many of them are meant to be weatherproof. Some will attach to the outside of their house, others put it on a pole in the ground.

Did you see the guy in Europe that intentionally blew up his model S because he was so pissed off that Tesla wanted to charge him $25,000 for a new battery? We are right at the time now when the first batch of Teslas are getting past their eight year battery warranty.

So are they saying that the first batch of Teslas had a different battery platform that is more expensive than the newer ones coming out?

I have no idea. You mention a guy in Europe that blew his up, and my buddy happened to have sent me that video a few days ago. Was just posting it for anyone that likes explosions. :D

Looks great as shown. Hopefully they can bring it to production without butchering it too much.

I would totally be down for a bev tacoma. Main issue is infrastructure for charging especially here out west in Utah. They get that figured out and I'm on-board. I have faith the tech will get there. There was once a time when electric lawn mowers were a joke and were powered by an extension cord.... they're all but mainstream now, and since I made the switch with my lawnmower I would never go back. Ev's will get there too eventually

Here it is. The new Chevrolet EV. Work truck starts at 39k. I think this is 100k. Crazy. They have a trailboss
Model coming it also in the CES video.
Looks like the old Avalanche. I thought Tundras were slow on design changes…

I like the lightning, but ford will probably fumble the roll out as bad or worse than they have the bronco rollout. Seems like vehicle releases aren't something ford does well bc they seem to be making a long history of effing it up lol

I am in Utah too. My last camping trip involved driving 91 miles into where we were camping without passing a single house, gas station, etc. Then I boondocked all weekend and drove around to various hikes and offroad trails. Then I had to drive the 91 miles back to the nearest gas station.

A BEV is not an option for me right now unless they start getting up into the 600 miles unloaded range and 300+ miles towing.

Yep or unless they come out with some type of modular battery pack like a battery Jerry can of sorts. I have the same issue on my trips in s utah.

    Right? And
    8000lbs towing
They did say they have a 20k towing option coming out. We’ll see.

My wife has a Chevy Bolt she bought for commuting before the pandemic. Lots of issues , mainly batteries catch fire, but anyway; point is there are a lot of downsides , like range. It’s kinda like an eco-boost and MPG. Unpredictable.

But above all I will say they are fun as hell to drive, and it’s nice to have the heater or AC on while in the parking lot while not idling as I wait forever for her to finish shopping. Lol

But overall range needs to be a lot higher with car prices dramatically reduced and electricity cheaply produced (maybe nuclear) and infrastructure upgraded to make this work long term. IMHO anyway.
