It isn't half bad looking, basically looks like a newer tacoma.

I would totally be down for a bev tacoma. Main issue is infrastructure for charging especially here out west in Utah. They get that figured out and I'm on-board. I have faith the tech will get there. There was once a time when electric lawn mowers were a joke and were powered by an extension cord.... they're all but mainstream now, and since I made the switch with my lawnmower I would never go back. Ev's will get there too eventually

Here it is. The new Chevrolet EV. Work truck starts at 39k. I think this is 100k. Crazy. They have a trailboss
Model coming it also in the CES video.
Looks like the old Avalanche. I thought Tundras were slow on design changes…

I like the lightning, but ford will probably fumble the roll out as bad or worse than they have the bronco rollout. Seems like vehicle releases aren't something ford does well bc they seem to be making a long history of effing it up lol

Lately none of the automakers have been very good about it.

I am in Utah too. My last camping trip involved driving 91 miles into where we were camping without passing a single house, gas station, etc. Then I boondocked all weekend and drove around to various hikes and offroad trails. Then I had to drive the 91 miles back to the nearest gas station.

A BEV is not an option for me right now unless they start getting up into the 600 miles unloaded range and 300+ miles towing.

Yep or unless they come out with some type of modular battery pack like a battery Jerry can of sorts. I have the same issue on my trips in s utah.

    Right? And
    8000lbs towing
They did say they have a 20k towing option coming out. We’ll see.

My wife has a Chevy Bolt she bought for commuting before the pandemic. Lots of issues , mainly batteries catch fire, but anyway; point is there are a lot of downsides , like range. It’s kinda like an eco-boost and MPG. Unpredictable.

But above all I will say they are fun as hell to drive, and it’s nice to have the heater or AC on while in the parking lot while not idling as I wait forever for her to finish shopping. Lol

But overall range needs to be a lot higher with car prices dramatically reduced and electricity cheaply produced (maybe nuclear) and infrastructure upgraded to make this work long term. IMHO anyway.

I like the look a lot too. Looks pretty much like my Frontier. Very similar in looks. Almost a copy. I think Yota would sell a lot of those.

Haha. Maybe the range suffers significantly when venturing north of that number?

Like I said, show me a rock or tree somewhere that you can plug your truck into to re-charge and I'll start taking interest.
Other than that, don't bother me with these "stupid things" that just don't make sense except to people that want to play on your ignorance to separate you from your money.

Some people buy boats, some people buy RV's, some people buy ATV's, some people buy motorcycles. None of those will replace your beloved Tundra, and none of them are meant to. Just like these electric trucks. They are cool toys that fun can be had in. Maybe the fun part just isn't for you?

I can save you a lot of money real quick.... Go buy a friggen RC truck and play with it in your back yard.
Lower cost, you can recharge faster and for less and you can pick it up when it trashes itself and go fix it.
PS, you can't tell me you can have more fun in an electric truck than a ICE truck.
First thing I'd do is challenge you to a tow contest then laugh after fifty miles.

I like to have fun on the rocks in with my 4Runners and old Tundra as much as anybody. I think it would be fun to attempt those feats with an electric buggy type thing. Those don't exist yet but with the way off-roading is getting so popular it's only a matter of time.
I would still have a V8 Tundra around to haul these toys, whether they are gas or electric. These don't replace the V8 Tundra's and are not meant to.

right now yes, in 5 years no. The technology is getting better and better every day. Like a lot of folks on here I would be all over an EV that allowed me to tow my 4k off-road camper and 1700 in payload (always over payload in my tundras with aftermarket suspension) and had 400+ range.

Eventually the trucks will have built in solar charging through the paint, lighter/ larger/ more efficient batteries, and be capable of the range and load necessary to be a truck.

have you ever driven an EV? If not I highly highly suggest you to drive a Tesla, then drive any number of comparable cars and sports cars- they make everything else seems so boring and plain Jane…… and slow.
