Completely agreed. I’m in Michigan and we just announced today. I think the first week will be laxed but I think the state will catch on quick in who is bending the definition and resolve it next week.

And again, I get why businesses are doing it, it’s to keep people employed....but also defeats the main purpose of the stay safe to begin with.

I am. PM for a large municipal utilities contractor. We’re on statewide lockdown as of 5 pm today. However we’ve been told to only come into the office if it’s absolutely necessary. I’m set up to work from home though anyway.

I'm pretty lucky to be essential and I truly feel for those that are going through tough times. A lot of my friends are small business owners and are taking a beating. I'm also a pretty worried for every worker that gets paid due to tax revenue. It's gonna be a reckoning when we see what the projected revenue vs. realized hits the books. I guess it depends on how long the quarantine is in effect. This could be disastrous or a somewhat crappy set back. I was reading a news blurb that POTUS was considering rolling back the quarantine in 15 days if the policies end up being worse on America than the actual problem. Time will tell.

I'm a mechanical engineer and we make induction heating equipment. We are deemed essential because we make equipment for many industries. I'm happy about it. No lay offs and even though we are slow right now, I think once all this overblown bullshit goes away, the market will come back stronger than ever.

Edit: also my fiance is a nurse practitioner, and deemed essential as well. So we have been fine financially through this besides our 401k's. To anyone out there struggling. Just know it's gonna get better sooner rather than later.

Pudge, being in the medical field I’m curious if you think this is overblown. I personally don’t but I continue to hear people say it’s all a sham and media driven nonsense. I’m in no way asking anything political. I just want your professional opinion if you believe this is as serious as it is made out to be.

I do. RN here. Just because how infectious it is. Never mind death rates and hospital admissions. It can spread like wildfire. Add in the shortage of medical supplies, its a receipe for disaster.

Small business owner here providing service and sales of mechanic tools to automotive shops. Already seeing layoffs in shops and some aren't allowing vendors in any more. Trying times but staying positive. Good luck to all of you experiencing hardships.
