I’m an engineer. Even though I don’t feel essential I’m considered essential because we work for water/wastewater, transportation, medical. I was traveling and staying hotels until last week. We’re all working from home now.

Kudos and many thanks to the REAL essential folks!! Let’s get thru this and get stronger!!

Healthcare insurance underwriter here. Been working from home since last Monday, so not really essential to be in the office. Not really essential at my part-time job in the evening either, but they have yet to communicate anything to me, so I continue to go into the office for them. Received my first email this afternoon from a small business asking to put their premium on hold since they closed their doors and cannot afford to pay at this time, but also do not want insurance for their company's employees to lapse due to non-payment.

Every time I hear "essential employees" it reminds me of Schindler's List and the metal workers.

I work for the ambulance service, so my job is always essential. I'm still a licensed paramedic, but I've been in the office as the clinical manager for all our NM Operations for the last couple years.

Since I'm office personnel I technically could work from home but it's way to hard in this business not to be in the office.

I am engineer/finance/spreadsheet-jockey for upstream oil & gas. I'm trying to keep my clients from going illiquid. I'm essential to some, but I can work anywhere for the most part. I've been working from home for a two weeks now.

    ER Nurse

If anyone has or knows of anyone who has any PPE aka Personal Protective Equipment such as MASKS, GLOVES, FACE SHEILDS, PLASTIC GOWNS, RESPIRATORS, ANYTHING please donate it to your local ER, police, fire, or EMS. Some of these items are common in demolition, construction, HVAC, outdoor work. Even dentist or Dr office's which are mostly closed. PLEASE HELP.
If we don't have masks we can get the virus, I don't care if I get it, I'm sure I'll be fine, but tha puts me out for 2 weeks minimum. Then that's one nurse out who can't take care of your mother who has a stroke or dads heart attack or your kids appendicitis.

    MASKS are most in demand

I get the impression employers are really stretching who is essential and who is not.
Don’t get me wrong, the more businesses that close means the more employees who are on unemployment...means a worse economy.

I don't want to start an argument in here but I'm 100% with you on this man. I work in healthcare and the more employers try and convince the government or whomever that they are essential just makes more people exposed which in turn makes more people we have to take care of, which means more healthcare workers are placed at risk unnecessarily.
