Don't let a kid out smart you.
I work in a bike shop so I'm not super essential but we have been slammed with people trying to get their bikes that they haven't ridden in years fixed up and our E-bike sales are through the roof. My County has classified us as essential (I think under transportation). But I'm not complaining. Working is the only thing getting me up in the morning.

Not sure what you mean by working doubles. To my brain and experience working a double means working two shifts, so a double for me would be a 24 hours shift. No way in hell.

Ours is set up with 4 guys, so there are basically 4 shifts. Below is a Calendar to illustrate it as though the system started on the first of this year. It's a 28 day cycle

yea, double for us is 2 shifts which is theoretically 16 hours, although with turnover on both ends, it adds up. those days are rough. 45 min drive to and from work and i only realistically get about 4 hours of sleep before having to head back in.

Sounds like you need to set up the truck for sleeping and just camp between shifts.

Ditto for my wife. She's worked @ home since 2014 (for two different healthcare companies). The pay is AWESOME (she has a few special certs) but there are times where, right after I walk in the door, she walks up to me, and says with teeth clenched, "We. Are. Going. OUT. Tonight." LOL

My parent company just cut the salary of all employees by 10% due to "possible profit loss." This cut goes through the rest of 2020. Even if things get better during 2020, our pay does not get reinstated. When we hit 2021, it is still a "wait and see" about getting our pay reinstated. I am happy to have a job but this still pisses me off. Employees should not have to subsidize a company's profit loss. Ohh.... and they just spent $750 million on stock buy backs so that their stock value would go up. The executives are making a killing.

Yeah. What’s tough is that I really like the company that I work for. It’s the parent company that is doing this crap.

I do keep my resume updated, but I would have to wait until the country is back to normal before trying to find a new job.

Yeah. It's the best schedule I've ever had for 24/7 coverage. Makes for happy employees too. Though the pay week resets at 12 AM Sunday, so it's not a mountain of OT like it appears. Still, pay is good and this schedule keeps our weird paydays from ever leaving you short.

OT is overrated. I’ve averaged 1000h/year for the past 3 years. The money is great, yes, but I’m 100% burned out. That’s how you get 5 years worth of experience in 3 though. Makes looking for other opportunities easier.

Your regular schedule? Ours is right at 2016 hours. Plus all of that SHIT OT. Our console is manned with one person for 12 hours at a time. We’re responsible for 3 process units and 2 utility units. We have almost 300 frames of DCS screens and 35,000+ control points... that’s over a third of this facility in one person’s hands. If I were to do a single round to check EVERYTHING in an in depth manner, it’d take around 9 hours. I can’t do that though because one of the processes is a batch process. So I’m busy with that most of the time. Y’all hiring?

I am a Psychiatric Technician at a Level 5 maximum-security facility. A forensic institution that houses mentally ill convicts who have been committed to psychiatric facilities by California's courts. I work 5 days a week, four of those days are 16 hour shifts (AM shift 0645-1515, and PM shift 1445-2315). Money is great, but the risk right now is huge. If Covid-19 hits inside here, it would be a disaster.
