New set looks brand new still. Haven’t crawled yet with the new fat truck. Planning to do more high speed and less crawling now so I should be ok. I was planning to put budbuilts on but I came across some new RCIs for sale so I swooped them up.

Nice! Yeah, hard to pass when they’re a good deal :fistbump:

I really enjoy rocks so this fat pig will need some protection haha. Going to be interesting to see how the electronic LSD handles compared to the locker on my taco.

Doubling up on my question over here too: anyone know if BudBuilt has any promo codes available?

I couldn't find any a few weeks ago and there is a quite a long lag time to get them made and shipped right now.

    Yeah, 14 weeks :angrygirl:

I was telling my dad about the San G trip in September (which I want the skids for) so I’d need to order by mid to late May to get them on time. He just sprung “let’s go to Moab before then” so I need to order earlier than planned if I want to really enjoy Moab. Lol.

Going with the full skid setup? Great skids but pricey. Prolly the best skids out there though!

Yeah, the 3 skid package. And yeah, very expensive with $281.70 in shipping costs
Just hoping to save 5-10% to take some of the shipping pain away haha.

That’s my thought too. I’m not familiar with them but saw there’s a PP brand that’s also 3/16” but I didn’t see much on them. But that’s the only other brand I’ve seen with 3/16”.

I thought Bud Built had a stage 2 version at 1/4"? I think they used to. Would be freaking heavy...ha

The 1/4” is aluminum. I’d wreck that lol. They do offer stainless which is stronger but out of my budget.

But 1/4” steel would be HEAVY! BAMF makes 1/4” steel for the Tacoma lol

It’s a little tough to tell in picture, but these were my 3/16” skids on my taco. I saw some pics of Alex’s reinforcements and have some ideas to beef up the BudBuilt.

Don’t know yet, my dad just had the idea since he’ll be out in Utah in the Fall already. I’m not sure if we’ll be able to get time off work yet, but :fingerscrossed:

So for anyone interested: BudBuilt offers LEO, Military, and First Responder discount. Otherwise it’s waiting until Black Friday.

For anyone interested, San G 6.5 “the redux” dates have been posted. 9/24-9/26.

Myself and a few friends have already booked.

Thread has yet to be updated.
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/6th-annual-2020-san-g-family-reunion-9-25-27.64507/

    This was San G 5th annual -

    6th had Covid delay

Great time, and family friendly! Grab your friends and book now, sites fill up fast! We want to secure the whole camp before random people start booking and end up surround by a bunch of loud mouth Yota enthusiasts! :burp::rofl::fistbump::drunk:

Sliders were set for delivery today, but FedEx has a delay and delivery has been updated to “pending” :pout:

I also got my BudBuilt order started over the weekend, so ~14 weeks for those then I’ll be protected.

Called FedEx for a status update on my sliders:

They’re headed to San Bernardino, then they’ll be headed to SD, then I’ll get a call for delivery appointment. So looking like 3-6 days out. I’m getting anxious! Lol.

edit: The delay is due to Covid. They’re saying they’re short staffed for safety reasons hence the delay.

    Question for anyone out there:
If my searching is correct, is Steelcraft the only manufacturer that sells a rear bumper that works with BSM?

Yeah, because the BSM is a safety thing, most bumper companies aren't willing to assume the liability that comes with making the claim of functionality. Plus, it means plastic panels or holes in the bumper vs just making one the old fashioned way.

Makes total sense, don’t blame the armor guys for not wanting to deal with the liability.

I think plastic panels are the way to go. My buddy had an idea using tube and the plastic material used for front bumper valences.
I’m going to get my head under over the weekend and see what I’m working with.

I know that @RainMan_PNW added BSM to his pro and has a post on it. Pics he has might help you out. https://www.tundras.com/threads/caseys-2021-lunar-rock-trd-pro-build.77317/page-11#post-2201253

Check the build link in my signature.
Even more :monocle: is that the Canadian TRD Pro does. Whatever...it's done now.

The angle of the sensor is important, as is the size of the space it has available to broadcast, because it is a narrow-beam radar unit. Attached is just one document I have found outlining processes associated with checking/verifying/adjusting BSM, though I'm not sure there is much you could really do with the way the unit is tucked into the rear bumper. The bumper framing has three threaded studs that the mounting bracket attaches to, and the mounting bracket has three threaded studs that the BSM attaches to. There is very little room for wiggle...maybe they use shims or washers if the angle needs adjusted.

Either way, third party bumper MFGRs would need to develop a mounting system that matched the factory orientation while still allowing it to be removeable/accessible for installation of the sensors and the wiring harness. And they would need to be 100% sure they didn't make the opening too narrow or restrict the beam such that it would read false positives (most likely) or not read at all (huge liability). That's a lot more R&D cost that you'll likely not recover - how many people putting a big off-road bumper on their truck are going to fork another $2-300 extra to have BSM retained? I'd venture to guess it's a small group (as opposed to the relatively simply task of drilling a few holes for sonar sensors).
