Ebay Aftermarket TRD Pro Grills with surround

Your 2019 DCL will swap easy with another grille that uses the sensor eg; 2019 Pro grille, however from the threads I read, swapping it with a 2014-2017 TRD Pro grille or any 3rd party that has no sensor hardware supports requires extra parts and might be tricky. Maybe someone who's done it can chime in.

 

Sorry I am new here and trying to catch up on all this. I just bought a 2019 Limited and ordered parts from Sparks. One of those being a TRD Pro grille, bulge, grille surround, and sensor cover. Being that the sensor is located so much lower on the TRD grille than all the others will it create issues with my TSS? Do I need any other parts for the install or should it all go right on? Parts are currently off at paint being matched along with door handles and mirror caps, I hate chrome lol

They are referring to the old 2014-2017 Pro Grille, but read post 14 which would be applicable to the 2019 Pro Grille

Hmm so it seems like I shouldn't have any issues as it will still be centered left and right, it will just sit lower in the grille. Worst case scenario I guess they re-calibrate it at the dealer. Stupid sensors make everything difficult, wish there was a way to shut it off entirely without a code being thrown on your dash.

 

Has any one tried this grill out yet? I find it hard to pass up for the money. Just rattle can the silver part.

If your surround is chrome, combining both will literally make the latest TRD Pro Grille. The 2nd one is the insert, they’re finally selling them on eBay. And it comes with a sensor cover!

I’m assuming the first one matches the Tundra basic black, not speckled one (forget the codes/names).

Then all you need is the black hood bulge.

Edit: I see you have a Platinum so you’re color matched already, all you need is the 2nd one, the clips are tricky but the middle is exchangeable. The first one won’t match your black.

Thanks! The black surround is eBay, I took the older version TRD Pro insert that was there out, the new honeycomb insert is pulled from a new 2019 OEM TRD Pro grille (I have a speckled black surround unused) and the sensor cover is 3rd party. That’s how I know the black doesn’t match.

I got a 2019 or 2020 trd pro grill for my truck in Ontario...its not cheap, and its not 202 black...but it looks great I'm going to see how much the attitude black contrasts with my regular black before I decide if I'm going to paint the grill surround. I ended up painting my own bulge and making my own garnish. Good quality paint to do my bulge cost me about 100 bucks canadian.

 

There’s a post here somewhere, it’s not hard, iirc it’s pressured half moon clips and maybe a couple of screws, I may be wrong. Took me 10-15min, not long.

Would I just need to pop my horizontal style grille out and then swap the speed sensor over in the lower spot on the pro-grille knockoff?

 

The metallic flaking definitely makes it look different in the day, even when dim because of the street lights reflecting off it.

 

crap. Well that’s fine...I have my original grill to put back on while I’m painting the surround 202 black . My bulge turned out great

 

It will be a lot easier to repaint a painted grill surround than a chrome bulge

 

In theory yes, the risk is it’s an eBay part and more importantly those with TSS may need something else done (recalibration? OEM cover? can’t remember). You might want to read up on adapting TSS to 2019 TRD Pro grille, thread here somewhere.

 

FYI, this is exaclty the front end look I am going for on my truck I like your taste! did you have your bumper corners color matched or are they TRD or SR bumpers?

Thanks, they are wrapped chrome. The square bezels are sold by Toyota. If you have chrome, get them painted properly, wish I did that. Wrap gets chipped and fades.

 

as has been mentioned, you have to get the whole grill. You can’t just get the insert.

 

Cool. Mine are currently protect-dipped (I think it’s a crappy tire product) and I’m happy for now, but was going to paint them eventually.

 

Anyone get a Barcelona Red Ebay grille? Curious how good the color match is.
