It begins far before then. Just trying to figure out which body parts I can sell so I can afford parts.

Really need to talk to my accountant about increasing my allowance

In my world if you say you can't afford something and then you follow that up with you need to talk to your accountant, you might get your ass handed to you.

Just do a little song and dance, Marvin Gay and some good red wine. Boom...mod money. Works for most of my friends.

Unfortunately, I am not most friends haha. She just wants me to keep the house clean, and with a 4 year old and 8 month old...that's like trying to fry an egg on a ice block.

Lots of stuff goin on in this thread lol

Anyway you guys will probably flame me for this question. Was looking around today and found toytec and their kit without resivior coilovers was wondering if anyone could give any info or comparison. 1300 for front coilovers and rear shocks. I could get with total chaos uppers for 2k vs king/ads front coilovers at 1500/1600. Trail use doubtful on any airtime.
Basically how much will I regret this purchase vs just spending more up front

When I got my truck I said exactly what you said. I’m not gonna wheel hard. I don’t need anything crazy. So I got Bilsteins. Then about 2 months later, I went camping in Anza Borrego and decided I wanted more. So I got ADS on all 4 corners. Went on a couple trips on that set up and then got LT front. Now I’m going LSK race kit front and 3 link rear.

My advice is get the best system you can afford. The whole buy once cry once.

If you’re looking for a used ADS MT set up, I have one for sale. The front at least. With a heimed TC UCA.

From what I understand those are basically a 5100 with a threaded body, if you plan on doing much off-roading I’d definitely look into something else.

I first got the Toytec Boss kit. Did everything I needed it to do my first year. Mostly easy/moderate Jeep trails. It was when I got to the desert and started doing more higher speed stuff I realized I needed more. But I don’t regret going that route. I don’t believe in going straight to the best equipment in any sport. When I used to teach golf, I made my students start with a wood driver. Literally, an old driver made out of wood. Once you perfect your form and can drive the ball perfectly, then you know you’re doing it right and it’s not your fancy $400 driver that’s making you good. Same philosophy. You learn a lot about your truck and your driving on a starter setup. Then when you’re ready to updrade, you’ll know whether you want to go with a nice MT, LT, or even a bracket lift on 42’s.
