I specifically took ours in a lovely Cavalier station wagon. On top of that, I had my Dad help me figure out how much room they gave us to parallel park, and then subtracted about a foot from all dimensions, and learned to park in THOSE.

    It helped me immensely.

It was a 1964 Dodge 440 (body style, not engine) with a big block 318 and a push button automatic. This isn't the actual car, but it's the same body style and color.

When I was 15-16, my parents only had full size dodge vans. My dad is a contractor so we had his work van, a Dodge 3500 maxi van. Then we had moms Dodge 1500 shorty conversion van. Both were incredibly large vehicles for a 16 year old to try and take a drivers test on, but it’s what I knew how to drive so I was fine with it.

On the way to the drivers license office, my dad whips into a Suzuki dealer. I was like “wtf dad?”. He says “wait here, I’ll be right back”.

This man comes zipping around the building in a brand new Suzuki SX4 AWD hatchback that the salesman agreed to let him have for a 24 hour test drive.

So I took my drivers test in a clown car that we were test driving from the dealer. After putting in all my required hours in my parents boats vans, I dominated the test in that little tiny Suzuki.
