We were out riding around on Sunday and road by the highway department, for fun I whipped in to try and parallel park. Now I've been able to do it in our trucks before but I could not do it this time.

    Got me thinking.

I got my license in '78 in my Mom's '76 Lincoln Town Car. That thing was a boat.

What did y'all take your drivers test in?

98? V6 Honda Accord, with ABS lol... my DMV asked me to accelerate and punch the brakes without locking the brakes... LOL joke was on her, cuz I knew how to do it with non ABS, but the ABS made it seem soo much smoother...

‘67 Ford one-ton truck with a 9 foot bed. I grew up in the country so my mom did a lot of commentary driving in the years leading up, whenever we visited a city, said we have to learn to parallel park and U-turn it in one go. We did.

I learned to drive when I was 10 in my dads 84 f150 4wd 4 on the floor at the local mud holes. Would also grab the truck and back the boat trailer down the launch with my dad in the boat. He’d drive it up and ide drive it out. I got my first car, which was an 81 4door cutlass when I was 14 and fixed it up till I was 16 and could drive.

I took my test in a Ford escort. I could parallel and park in the lines like it was second nature at 16 haha. After parallel parking like a pro on the first time, even my instructor said “it’s obvious you’ve done this before”. lol.

87 ford bronco II. Turn radius on those was awesome. Good windows with very few blind spots. Really short, so parallel parking was a breeze.

I took my drivers test in 1986 in my dads F350 Ford dully with a 460, 4speed standard. The parallel parking was the first thing on the test. I went into reverse and the gear shift knob came off, I looked at for a second, threw it in the back seat the Trooper looked at kind of funny and I laughed. I took the whole test without the shift knob. The trooper was impressed and my dad told him that’s the way several of our ranch trucks were and I’d been driving much bigger trucks since I was 12. Heck now I’m so use to the backup camera in my Tundra I’m hard pressed to park without one...

I’d like to try! I use’ta could do it in one ton Ford bucket trucks when I worked at a utility company. I’m convinced it’s technique, but I always accept challenges. Maybe someday there’ll be one I can’t make turn in one try. Hadn’t happened yet though.

    In 1985....My dad's '74 Ford Pickup,
also 3 on the tree. What an eyesore. He was so cheap....still is. Drives a '93 Camry now.
No power in that Ford but plenty of rust.
The floorboards in the cab were so rusted that you could watch the road pass by underneath your feet.
BUT I can drive ANY stick shift now from that experience... and I remember to get a tetanus shot update when thinking about that ride.

Took the test in 1977. Either Dad's 1973 Ford Gran Torino or Mom's 1968 Plymouth Fury III station wagon. Can't believe I can't recall which.

Took my first test in my parents' 1993 Mazda MPV and my second one in my 1998 Civic Si. The guy doing my second test didn't even bother to fasten his seat belt so I guess he wasn't too concerned about my abilities.

My '78 Bonanza had grass growing in the carpet. Had a bag of fescue seed that leaked one time. Come spring it freakin' sprouted.

I took my drivers test in a built and blown big block 66 Chevy II. It was mine and I was 13.
Had been driving a Baja style VW powered buggy since I was 7. Go carts before that.

I've driven a commercial vehicle (Class B) since I was 18 and can parallel park it against either left or right curb, but can't put my Tundra between the stripes at the grocer's parking lot for shit.

My test was in my step-mom's 83 Camero Berlinetta, that was the only time I ever drove that car. Passed with a score of 70, that was by the skin of my teeth.

I took mine in a 2001 Mazda MPV lol.

I still can't parallel park the Tundra confidently after 3 years. The mini van I could do just fine! Hell most times I think I have 2 feet between the grill and another car and I'll get out and it's 3 times that :(.

1985 chevy chevette.....my brother had it before me and broke off the che on the badge so it just said vette!!!!!

oh.....and it was a DIESEL!!! 53 miles to the gallon and would leave a black cloud of smoke everytime you accelerated. Got pulled over doing 83 in a 55 - cop came up to the window and said “son, it was must take a lot of work to get this pile of shit to go 83 miles per hour”. My response was “I was downhill with the wind sir.” He knocked it down to 74 so I didn’t get a reckless driving charge

Took the test in 71. Used my dad's 64 2wd Chevy pickup with a stick. Parallel parking not a big deal but there was a steep street nearby that the tester would have you come to a complete stop then proceed without burning up the clutch......

I learned to drive when I was 12 on back roads at our cottage on a 1974 Chrysler Newport . I took my test in 1987 in a VW Golf ( driving instructors car )
The first time he had me out was to practice turns and 3 point turns , it was then that I found out the instructor had a brake pedal on the passenger side . I guess I was going a little quicker doing the 3 point turn than he liked and hit the brake and I kept pushing on the gas pedal saying “ man this thing is gutless “ as he was saying “ stop already “ ! LOL
