:anonymous: <-- 4 grandkids for a short ride to a restaurant for dinner and back home. It was either that or the 4 Runner with two kids in the cargo area. Of course I survived a trip from Connecticut to Georgia in the cargo area of a 1972 Pinto Wagon when I was 5 yrs old.:bananadance:

Anyone know the science/engineering behind this? It can't entirely be due to the extra cab weight, can it?

Just my opinion because I’ve not seen the crash results but it looks like the DC fares better in front end crashes because the energy of the impact dissipates better along the entire cab and frame and is not isolated and absorbed near the front of the cab. I think they both have the same frame and wheelbase so the only difference is the cab construction. Just a guess.

Thanks for sharing, don´t make me start talking about when we were kids. I made multiple 10+ hours trips in the cargo area of a Bronco back in the '80s.

I was thinking more a 4 adults combo... anyone?

My parents used to let us lay in the back window of the car going 65mph down the highway and ride in the bed of the topless Scout II when I was growing up.
Cram em in there, they’ll be fine. If we were meant to wear seatbelts, we wouldnt have foreheads.

Having seen how packed 4 kids ranging in age from 9-12 were?? They would have to be four really small adults.

I put 4x8 sheets of plywood, drywall etc. in my crew cab all the time just leave the tailgate up and have it on an angle. I would imagine u would still have to do that or leave tailgate down too.
One thing that gets overlooked is sliding long trim etc through the huge back window which I have used more than once for. Give me a crew cab with 6.5" bed and I would buy it but I get by fine with the 1 foot smaller bed but IMO I really wouldn't give up the larger cab for it

DC for me. I wasn't about to buy a truck where I couldn't fit a bike in the bed. I sure would like the rear window upper/downer thingy, though. Loved it on my '88 4Runner.

I got the crew max because in 2019, the Pro was only available in crew max. That said I would have chosen it any way because interior room > bed space and I love the roll down rear window.

I would love a compromise 6 foot bed but not an option. when camping kids, dog in back seat . a lot less bitching with crew cab. and i still manage 4 bikes, coolers and some wood in bed. takes a good plan but it works for me.
i have put 10 sheets of plywood in bed molding etc...
and if i need more i hook up my 5x10 utility trailer.

oh and the back window is probably in my top 3 things i like about my truck

All you guys hauling 4x8 sheets of drywall or plywood, multiple bikes (5 here), lumber, 9’ kayaks, etc in your crewmax beds like I do...you must stop!!

Everyone knows only the incredible, unbelievably longer by one whole foot DC bed can handle such beefy manly tasks. Stop treating your minivan crewmax like it’s an actual truck! Only the DC is a real truck. Our crewmax beds—which I must again stress are ONE WHOLE FOOT shorter—are only good for ridicule!

Had a Quad Cab Ram with an 8 foot bed. Thing was monstrously long. Parking spots are not made for something that size. It was handy when I moved my GF though.

:rofl::rofl: Nope. She wasn't fat. Couldn't say now cuz she went crazy and has been an ex for a long time. I just meant that her Queen size box springs and mattress were a perfect fit in the bed, and the truck had plenty of Cummins power to haul a trailer with almost everything else she owned in it.
