I'm with you on the mismatched front and rear bumper. I understand the reason but that doesn't make it any less hideous (sorry guys that have this).

I had an 04 limited for 13 years that was color matched black with tan leather and I upgraded to a 20 limited in quicksand with chrome and black leather. I'm getting used to the chrome but I do wish the grill insert was black to break it up a little in the front.

    And I'm 52!

I'm with you. I hate the mismatch on my truck, but I very much like my BSM and Cross Traffic alert. It's saved me from more than one minivan speeding down the aisles of a parking lot when I am trying to back out. One of those features that I never really cared about until I had a vehicle with it ('17 WRX Limited) and I fell in love with it. Eventually I will get an aftermarket front bumper, and that will be the last of my chrome removal.

Back on topic, I think the chrome issue is color specific. Some colors just don't look good with it, while others can pull it off nicely. There is such a thing as too much chrome for any color though.

47 yrs old here, and don't mind a good balance. I definitely agree it can be WAY overdone though. I think you're onto something with the age relation...

What year is your beetle? We have a 1965 convertible beetle sitting in the garage. Drove it a few years, but it's been parked for a good 15 yrs. We really need to get it restored. Gotta have the shiny chrome on a classic beetle; that's how it was meant to be!

Yup I think it is a age thing lol and like myself I still can’t do the full black wheel thing in my younger years it was chrome wheels and only chrome wheels. I left the chrome door so that the factory wheels wouldn’t stand alone.

One thing being a car guy I appreciate and respect what others have done mostly. There is the odd one ya kind of wonder what were they thinking???27456E26-7C6E-41CF-9DE3-D43D90A13452.jpg

I'm somewhere in the middle. I like chrome on grills and bumpers, but not on wheels...

I have a 70 that I am going to get rid of the last chrome parts on, and I have a 53 that I will leave the chrome on.

My first was a 65 baja, it was a shell when I got it and wasn't far from a shell when I gave it away. I put a motor in it, got brakes working, put tires on it. It had 3 different wheels, no working gauges, no front windshield. Was so fun to drive though.

I like it but much depends on the vehicle. I am one of the few that actually switched to chrome mirror caps and handles on my Tundra. The black SR5 ones I had were hard to keep looking good.

The grill surround in chrome is the only thing not matching 3rd gens, grill isn't bad at all. IMHO, chrome mirror caps is a mistake too.

New to the forum, but its hard to not notice the majority of folks here are either removing or hiding all the chrome on their trucks. I have a brand new Limited and I'll agree....there's a lot of chrome on it, both plastic chrome and the real stuff. I don't really mind chrome myself.....but I'll see how the chrome grill and grill surround holds up over time. - I agree the chrome on the rear view mirrors is a bit much and I'd rather have the tops of those body color or even black.

Changing out the grill and surround on these is pretty pricey....especially when they don't have them pre-painted in silver.....so there's the added expense on top of that getting them painted.

I don't hate it. I don't love it. It's got it's place on a vehicle. Sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. But at the end...it's a matter of what YOU like!

The nice thing about chrome is that you don't have to worry about matching faded paint down the road. If your chrome bits get damaged, it's a quick and easy replacement - no paint.

I couldn't wait to get rid of the plastic chrome, but from the get go I wanted an all black truck so I guess I went into it biased.

Damn! I'm jealous of that black paint. My black Tundra doesn't look near that shiny. I had a black Lexus years ago that I meticulously took care of the paint and shined liked yours. Black is so hard to keep clean but looks so damn good when it's clean. I told myself I would never get another black car but I ended up with a black tundra...so much more surface area to care for haha

I don't mind my real chrome bumpers.....for now, but the plastic chrome surround and plastic chrome hood bulge is hideous imho. Yota plastic chrome and Pep Boys cheap ass plastic chrome truck bling should be banned off the planet unless you are into the Guadalajara parade truck look.
