There are things I like, and things I don’t. Due to the rapid influx of people moving in from out of state, the Austin area has become too crowded for my liking and the overall attitude is shifting. Not to mention it’s gotten crazy expensive. Just not where I want to be anymore, so I took advantage of the huge home markups and sold my house. We decided to move north a bit to Missouri. Was able to buy a bigger house on 5 acres for less than I sold my old house for. Should be there in early November. Looking forward to a change of scenery.

I work in tech and we are about to open another office in Austin because it has been established as a "tech hub". Can only imagine what that has done and will continue to do to local affordability

My bad. I assumed the tax laws would be similar for both.

Well its not that I personally have residence there but I have clients that do and have set them up for this reason specifically.

They each tell me the same thing too about the Tax situation there and the beauty of the way you can set it all up to let your money make more money so I am just taking their word for it too but trust me they have the money!

A few years ago I picked up a new Sequoia in Indiana from a Dealer friend of mine and drove it to Montana for the client and then I had to go get it registered and plated in the county seat there which turned out of course to be a Ghost Town too!

So with a MT residency they register everything there and it seems to provide big advantages or so they say at least.

Absolutely love it. Been out of cities since houston. Now outside San Antonio, but ive been outside Lubbock, outside Kansas City, outside Conway, and outside Memphis. Texas hill country wins hands down because of the people. Broken down cars get towed off, and the homeless get arrested, a bed, and 3 meals a day. Everyones armed and shooting in your yard is allowed. Dirtbikes, quads, golf karts and sxs’s arent frowned upon, and i cant see any of my neighbors.

Born in Redding too, it's been a problem for far too long. I left in 92 and have only been back a few times, it's to bad because it's a great place.

I'm in Vancouver for the past 5 years, l like it here. Basically been in the Northwest since I left and don't see myself leaving anytime soon unless its for another nordic country.

I work a lot so it's hard to mentally separate the job from where I live, but I will say that the food and culture are probably the best in the country. Infrastructure, economic opportunity/prospects, local government, and leadership leave a great deal to be desired.

Saskatoon Saskatchewan in mid-west Canada. We get laughed at for being too small and out in the middle of nowhere but those are the exact reasons i love where i live. Like many others have said and whether it be political or otherwise, a lot has been coming undone in North America over the past 15 years unfortunately.

Same thing here. Before it was legal, people smoked it. Now that it's legal, people smoke it, and maybe eat it. Only real change has been more options for consumption and perhaps a broader base of people partaking since there is no longer a sketchy dealer routine to be followed.

In fact, my wife who doesn't like any sort of drugs or drinking has been micro dosing chocolate to help with her insomnia for about 2 years now. Not daily, just when she needs to. Last time I stopped by my mom's she surprised me by busting out a half ounce of some home grown a friend gave to her to make some topical pain relief ointment. She also isn't into any drugs use, that ointment works. My wife took 2 bottles and gave them to her mother and aunt. They were surprised about the secret ingredient but they aren't arguing with the relief.

As far as any real negative consequences, nothing changed. Anybody driving or going to work stoned was doing that already before it was legal. A few local farms cycle cannabis now rather than strawberries because there is much higher profit and less water use, this is cannabis for CBD and has too low of a THC value to bother smoking. I wouldn't say that's negative unless you hate the smell or miss the strawberries. Good for the farmers and the drought.

    Yes and no

Central NC area wise is nice, winter is not too severe, yet you still get 4 seasons and not just hot and ungodly hot like further South. I’m an hour from mountains, 75 minutes from Charlotte and 3 hours from the ocean.

But it sucks people wise - I mean you get idiots everywhere in the world - but somehow they got a triple dose of stupid here. It’s not so much the stupidity that bothers me - it’s accepting it with pride !! I mean you call it “Southern culture” walking around with an 8th grade education and sense of entitlement - I call bullshit. I’ve been all over the South and no where else are people this uneducated PROUD of it. The fake niceness gets me too.

The worst part though - the food. Trying to tell them there’s more to bbq than half assed pulled pork in vinegar, the fact there isn’t a decent pizza available anywhere and the lack of options is just scary. Most of the stuff taste like it came out of GFS - because it does.

Oh, and the fact that roadways are filled with Dodge vehicles. I mean I get the whole Petty connection to the brand and all - but let’s be honest - the Dodge the king drove and the hemi of today aren’t even close.

I live in Southern California and love it. I'm a 30 minute drive to the mountains, and snow, and a 45 minute drive to the beach. I've literally had days where I've gone snowboarding in the morning, cruised out to the beach in the afternoon, then went to Disneyland just to catch the Fireworks. Sure the traffic sucks a lot of the time, and the taxes suck - but it's a price I'm willing to pay for what I get. We'll probably eventually move out of state when we decide to slow down a bit - but for now, it's good.

Been in San Diego for a long time. It has changed since the 90's- not for the better. The surf is good when its good and the vibe is good most of the time; alotta shit sucks as well; cost of living is the big one but state and county laws a regs are depressing. I have no idea where else to go to get what I want- US is best but damn.

Yes. No plans to leave North Dakota. While I grew up in central MN and was spoiled with lots of great lakes for fishing and a lot different geography for hunting ND feels like home now and has been for the last 10 years. I don't ever foresee being more than an hour from my wife's family farm because the freedom of your own space is just too good to leave. I can be out of the "city" and letting freedom ring 16 (or 30) rounds at a time in no time!

I was born and raised here, so I’m kind of partial to it. I love the weather and I love the access to the beach, the mountains and the desert. I’d leave, but I’m kind of attached to the rest of my family, as they need me. Also my job, the benefits and retirement.

But also Meh, fuck this place. It’s turning into a real shit hole. I wish I could take my same money (job) and move to the mountains of Arizona.

Most of the time. I'm in NE OK. I've traveled a lot but I'm still here after 64 years. We used to think we'd live in CO but there's too many people now. My biggest gripe here July-Sep are too damn hot. We try to bug out to cooler climates during the dog days.

In my experience most people are either happy wherever they are or miserable wherever they are.
