I hate loose bills and change as in coins. Dollar bills and Pennies drive me nuts. I don’t carry or pay with cash a lot but I always will give the cashier weird amounts to reduce the amount of bills and coins I have. If the total is $6.33, I’ll give the cashier $11.58 so I get back a nice even amount like $5.25.

They typically look at me like I have 3 heads and I politely tell them just punch it in the cash register and see what it says - the look of bewilderment is priceless! It drives my wife nuts...

Why not give them $11.33 and get $5 back?

Interlocks lol... the PSMs were written in the blood of the workers just trying to make a buck. And they’re routinely defeated by lazy workers who want to make their jobs easier. I FEEL YOUR ANGUISH.

Not the worst habit to have. Even nicer neighborhoods can have crime. We're not in a super nice gated community, but not a bad area either, and we typically have someone come through 2 or 3 nights per year checking for open car doors to see what they can "find" or stealing wheels/tailgates.

Like others here, I can KNOW all doors are locked, and I still have to make the rounds and check before I can go to bed.

I sdont walk up stairs I have to run up them. Walking feels very unnatural.

I went through a phase for a long time of having to flush a toilet before finishing a pee. This has been a hard habit to break that comes and goes.

I also can't sleep without white noise. I prefer a fan with a breeze on me.

I have a hard time talking on the phone to the point I usually ignore calls and stick to text.

I also have a hard time calling certain people close to me by their names. I'm not sure what that's about but sometimes it makes it awkward when I try to get their attention

More things may come to me. I guess I never knew I was so weird. Thanks OP.

I thought that was just good practice.

Not sure if you can call it a quirk but I like to challenge myself to see what the best fuel economy I can get is. I don't do any kind of crazy hypermiling but I keep the engine under 2000 rpm, hold the throttle position steady and never use cruise. Drives my wife insane.

Another one... I have to pee last thing before I go to bed, otherwise I lay there thinking I need to pee. I can go, then get distracted by something dumb on the way to the bed (for example, just remembered I was supposed to start dishwasher before going to bed). Go start diswasher. I MUST pee again, even if it's only a few drops, or I won't be able to get to sleep.

One of you is probably a Psychologist, using all this info to build a profile and determine just how crazy I am... :anonymous:

When I turn the volume up on the radio or TV, it has to be on an even number. If my wife turns it up and it's on 17 for example, I have to reach over and nudge it up or down one notch. I've been doing that since I was 13 years old and I'm too old to stop now.

not trying to be a d!ck, but i kinda laughed at this. i guess a lil bit also because if i were like that, i'd be squeezing it like a tube of toothpaste trying cuz i always think of something, hear something and have to go clear the house, check on my kids, etc.

Heh, I totally relate to this. 17 years in the military; and Dad was a Vietnam vet, so after I'd spent several years in, we'd take turns providing 'overwatch' of the exits and the like when we went out to eat. LOL

All the screws on plates for outlets and switches have to be perfectly vertical. I was recently at a friends house who got a 80k addition and rehab of the rest of the house and its the first thing I looked for. They were all over the place. I didn't say anything but it drives me crazy.

I guess that's a quirk of mine too. Additionally, they also have to be parallel with the wall facing. (If you're not careful they can be sort of 'cocked' to one side or the other.) Drives me freakin' NUTS if they are not.

I kind of got over that one. The audio is important to me so I just set it to the perfect volume now. To my wife's chagrin, the perfect volume is often 13 and she always asks me to change it because she's superstitious.

That reminds me of one I did break. Growing up we had to jiggle the handle after flushing until you could feel the flapper seat itself. I did this for years, even on fully functional toilets.

Also growing up our laundry machine pushed more water than the the drain could handle. We had to hang out on standby and when the drain cycle starts, listen for the laundry standpipe to start filling and stop the machine for 10 seconds, start, listen, stop, repeat until empty. These days I've got plumbing skills and keep my drains clear, but when I hear the drain cycle start I perk up and want to run to stop it.

Now that I think of it I have a lot.

An ex girlfriend pointed out that when I eat French fries I dump them out on the plate and sort them by length, then I eat them from tallest to shortest.

When I'm eating I don't drink anything until I'm done eating.

When I adjust volume on a TV or stereo, if there are numbers I only set to certain numbers. 10, 12, 13 are acceptable, I never leave it on 11 or 14 for example. 15, 16, 18, 20 are fine, but never 17 or 19. 23 is fine, never 21, 22, 24.
