If you feel so inclined, share!

I have one I find is odd. If I lay down in bed at night and have the TV or Radio on, I will be awake all night no matter how tired I am or how badly I want to sleep. I'll only be able to sleep after I turn off the radio/tv.

BUT, In the middle of the day I can lay on the couch, kick back in the recliner, or even sit in a chair and fall asleep while watching TV. I will sleep even better if I select some tunes on the stereo and turn it up high enough to rattle things on the walls.

At night in bed, no way. :notsure:

I'm the exact opposite...I slept right behind the catapults on the USS Enterprise, and so I *have* to have some background noise or I can't sleep.

As far as my quirks? I count stairs. If I'm walking up/down them, I'll count them in my mind, every time; by 2's if I'm running up/down them by 2's. LOL

    Let me start with this.

I worked in the HVAC industry as a sheet metal fabricator for my entire working career.

To this day I can not enter a commercial space with exposed ductwork and not perform a visual inspection.

I guess my quirk would be I have to have a fan blowing on me when I go to bed, and for the noise. My brother and sisters are the same way. :)

Same here. We have two fans working in our bedroom ~ a tower fan and a ceiling fan. In the warmer months those fans are always blowing when we retire for the evening.

I have this weird habit of checking the vehicles around me for expired tags. The worst I saw was a guy I work with that had 2018 tags in 2020. I judge these people appropriately.

My weird quirk: I don't dream. At least, I'm pretty sure I don't. I haven't remembered having a dream since I was around 12 years old.

I'm the opposite. I have to have background noise. I always have a fan on. I also usually have my laptop on the bedside table, blue light filter turned on and the screen closed as much as it can without going shutting off while it plays a tv show on Netflix at low volume. For me, it's about giving my mind something to focus on in the background. Without the noise, my brain starts running at 100mph; thinking, planning, regrets, hopes etc. If that happens, I'll never fall asleep.

That'll happen. I'm a welder. You would be shocked at the piss poor quality of the welds out there, especially on stuff where you know it needs to be strong...

If I hear someone crunching food I lose my shit and it literally causes a fight or flight response, meaning I either get pissed off or leave the room. Come to find out, it's a real disorder called misophonia.

I can't look at the time without seeing if there's a pattern or math problem.

I can't look at a license plate without seeing what it spells or if there's a pattern.

I will find a typo almost instantly.

Everything I do has to be aesthetically or structurally correct. Must be why I chose design and engineering for a career.

Yes, I drive myself (and my wife) crazy sometimes!

I like to negotiate deals for the heck of it. I have bought gold, wheels, vehicles, and a ton of other stuff when I do not need it. If I see an ad on FB or something that catches my eye I will make an offer and usually negotiate my way to a really good deal. For example, I bought my 2017 Tundra in 2018 with 3k miles, 4x4 and certified for $31K.

Driving wise, i can't stand to see someone back out of a spot coming to a stop leaving wheel cocked over, then while Fully stopped and not until complete they turn the wheel to opposite side, Then move into D and drive forward. I try to teach my youngsters/spouse to turn wheel half way back by the time they stop on a backout, then place into D and begin moving foward Slowly While turning wheel remaining half and presto no rough treatment of tires - Only turn wheels while moving - Is it too much to ask? Weirdness, perhaps, but hey I'm from Austin town....

Also, I do not like my food touching and I cannot tolerate heat at nights. I keep our bedroom at a cool ~58F at night. My wife hated it at first but a couple big blankets fixed that

Yes at that time I did NEED a new truck lol. My wife and I still talk about how our sales man got his ass chewed out while were down the hall since I talked him into giving me a deal without getting it approved first.

I was a printing press mechanic for 23 years for a plastic drinking cup manufacture, red solo cup, ya those folks. To this day when I see a plastic cup with printing on it I examine the print laydown for straightness, plate alinement if multiple colors. Force of habit. BTW Vandam printing presses are da bomb, seriously the only press out there to print on for container printing.

At my current gig I am known to look at a bolt a customer brings in and tell them what size, thread pitch and if its SAE or Metric just by looking at it. Folks give me a weird look when I had it back to them and tell them what it is without using a guage, I say well I have turned more nuts and bolts than most folks see in a life time. LOL..

That's interesting, because that can cause me to lose my shit too! It doesn't bother me if there is background noise to cover it up, or if there is a large group of people (probably because a large group will create enough background noise), but I can't be in a quiet room with one other person eating, it drives me mad - it's almost like my brain zeroes in on and amplifies the sound of their chewing.

I always thought it was because growing up my Dad would never close his mouth when chewing and liked to slurp/smack with every chomp.

Best thing Mom ever did for me - true story; I was maybe 4 or 5 years old, and one day I decided to eat like Dad (he wasn't home at the time). I started slurping/smacking my lips as loud as I could. Mom gave me a firm little slap across the face (enough to get my attention, she didn't knock me off the chair or anything extreme like that) and told me to "close my mouth and chew right."

I countered with, "Well, DAD eats like that..."

And she said "I don't care... you are not going to eat like that!"

Thanks Mom! :) You were right again!

I have two that I do without even thinking about.

If I talking to someone by their car I look at the registration and inspection stickers to see if they are still valid. :notsure:

When driving if I drive under a bridge or overpass I'm in a different lane when I come out. Guess that from worrying about things thrown at the police car, that's a NYC thing.:eek2:
