Wasn't too bad. I had zero experience in something like that, but after getting laid off and my buddy was a digital press operator at a small family owned company, he told them how I was. After working there doing b!tch work kinda work, they saw how anal and attentive I was and moved me within a week or 2 into something more detailed like the folding/binding/cutting. After 3 months I was manager of the entire bindery department and if I would manage the whole shop. I knew I couldn't since I wasn't planning on staying there. Brought another guy in with a missing finger from getting it caught in a press at another job. lol

My grandfather could do that because he worked on the family farm his entire life.

I do that too, which is why I want to shoot whoever built my house. Had to settle for putting all the switches that are next to each other in the same position, even if that means they're up when they're off.

I'd say my biggest quirk is pushing the bubbles on to-go cup lids. I can't not do it, and if one is already pushed by the server I internally freak out.

Aren't they supposed to push down the button that corresponds to the drink you ordered so you know which is which when you order with a group?

You could take your pegboard a step further and shadow paint each of the tools on it. That way you will instantly see if any of them are missing or in the wrong place. Wooops I guess that’s my quirk. I look for opportunities to lean out waste, it drives my wife nuts when I’m watching work flows in restaurants and stores.

I need a welding inspector here.
The 2" x 1" x 0.3125" angle iron is welded to a 0.75" plate. It's a bench at the Park-N-Ride. At any rate, the weld broke . . . not the quality work you would hope for.
Certainly not the end of the world but not the best job either.

Ditto, slept with my head next to the bulkhead to the engine room on the cutter. Was soothing as hell. Took years before I was able to sleep without a fan going at home, but if I hear any noises at night I have to clear the house before I can go back to sleep. My husband knows my routine and, after years, ignores it and lets me do my thing and get back into bed after. Just mild PTSD.

Also have to step into every room right foot first. If I dont, I go back out and do it again. :notsure:

I'm not a LEO, but working with them now for 20 years, I have to have my back to the wall when at restaurants. I will wait for a table if others are open for this reason. I have found if I am in the middle of the room, I just spend the meal worried about what is behind me. That said, we have conceal carry in Texas and in the mid 1990s a guy walked into a Luby's and killed 13 people. I also won't go to a packed movie theater. I have seen 2 movies in 10 years, both times from the back row.

What was it I heard (primarily about crap coming out of China these days)? If done correctly, the weld should be the strongest point and thus the least likely part to fail?

I have to have clean floors. Shit on my hardwood drives me nuts. I vacuum more than I should. In fact, I’m looking at the new Dyson stick right now. I probably need professional help for this but I won’t get it.

I also need a noise maker to sleep. I use a fan type noise. If it’s dead quiet, I can’t sleep.

Agreed. Was a Boarding Officer in the military and have mostly police/staties/marshals in my family. Saw what people are capable of doing to each other first hand, was attacked several times, shot at, almost kidnapped twice in Columbia (literally fought my way out of it with help from a couple of my guys), went to the ground with a drunk lobsterman who was trying to pull my gun from my holster during a boarding... etc etc etc. I cant be in crowds, hate going to stores, cant sit down anywhere unless im next to an exit, have a gun strategically placed in several rooms of my house, and always have an escape plan wherever I go in case a fruitcake walks in with a rifle. Its annoying and disruptive as hell but people are out of their damned minds.

When something goes wrong, and ESPECIALLY is something gets damaged or somebody gets hurt, I analyze the situation to find out what went wrong so I can prevent it from happening again. My wife says I am just looking for someone to blame but I'm not. I cringe when I see a very risky situation that I am powerless to change, even if it is minor. I design industrial controls and have written the software behind them for years, so I am always thinking about risk. I have to remind myself all the time that "Artificial Intelligence is NO MATCH for Natural Stupidity". People will ALWAYS find ways to screw stuff up no matter how bulletproof you think your system is!

I have a horrible habit of cursing people that randomly walk up to me out of the blue and insist that I need to wear a mask. Not the kid at the front door at Walmart; he's just doing his job. But the 40 year old lady that that makes it a point to tell me what I "need" to do... my goal is to make her cry and question her personal value to society.

YES. And what makes it worse is that a) there's some meth heads in our area and b) a neighbor once entered our house to verify our house was OK (in the midst of a huge rainstorm) without verifying we were there.

    ONCE. :D

Thankfully, my Dad (and the Navy/Army Reserves, training classes, etc.) taught me trigger control and all that, so when my neighbor found me drawing down on him, about all that happened was that he messed his pants. LOL Scared the crap out of both of us.

But yeah, I'm the same way. I mean, if I hear a sound and I can quickly tie it to something else, no worries (though I'm awake UNTIL I can), but if not, same thing - house gets cleared with 9mm in hand prior to me going to sleep.

That's not a quirk. That's just plain risk management. I do the same thing (safety guy for the place I work). :)

And one of my favorite sayings is "Find something that's idiot proof...and they'll simply design a better idiot."

I can't stand to see someone fiddle with something, if you don't know what you're doing get out of the way. I just as soon do it myself than try to show someone how to do it which means I do more work than I delegate.

I see where you're coming from and I'm kind of the same but my dad is very much like that, which results in me not knowing how to do a lot of things (say patching a tire for example) because he always insists on doing it for me. So I try to focus on teaching people how to do things and let them try it out themselves even though I know I can do it better and faster. The old adage: don't give a man a fish, teach a man to fish.

I'm kind of like that too. This has resulted in my kids not learning how to do a lot of things. I have started fighting that so my kids WILL start learning!

before i go to bed each night, i'll go and hit lock on all 5 cars and i need to hear the beep before i can walk away. i always lock them as soon as i step out of any of them so i know they're locked already but i still need to make sure.

lived on the south side of chicago until i was 9 and we were burglarized 8 times so that prob has to do with it. today i'm fortunate to live in a really good and quiet neighborhood....but still got that hood in me that doesn't trust anything or anyone, including neighbors.
