So now my lights came on. This is so frustrating. I spent ax lot of time researching and zero point setting, tech streaming. I love my truck but this is getting ridiculous.

FYI, you don't have to go to the dealer to have them program TPMS. Discount Tire can do it with a handheld device, they scan the ID's of all 4 sensors from outside the tire and then plug it into the OBD and push sync. Also....they'll do it for free, takes about 10 minutes. I might have them not put the sensors in next time simply because they're expensive to replace, and they have rigid valves. I snapped on off in -20 degree weather and had to change the thing....that sucked. I'll just have them do standard rubber stems and call it a day

Count me in too. I just finished this mod up this afternoon. I didn’t remove the glovebox, I just removed that lower valance and gained access from there. It’s a tight squeeze...

    I ended up using a 3m posi-tap (22 gauge wire)

First of all, I have an 06 access cab and the TPMS box is black and a beeeootch to get the plug out. I finally get it out and there isn’t any of the wires referenced in previous posts. Anyone have the same problem?

I fixed that sumbeeoootch!!! Cut the solid pink wire and connect it to a ground. Plug the terminal back into TPMS box. Drink beer and enjoy sticking it to the man!

Which one is correct pink or light green?
Anyone can confirm voltage reading on the wire to be cut?

On my 06 tundra, I didn’t have a yellow wire to connect the green wire to. I had to ground the solid pink (no black strip) wire. It varies by year which harness you have

Good Job, I would of loved seeing this back when I had my 2010 Tundra and didn't want to replace a bad sensor I had only 2 years in. I dug all over for a way to disable that light. That being said, I may make more money now and get way more meticulous(can't say anal due to my username) about things. When I got new wheels last year, I had discount tire program them, ended up being free as a required safety feature they aren't able to charge for it.

Just did this spliced light green wire into the yellow one mod on my 2015. Worked like a charm thus far (TPMS light that has been on since I put aftermarket wheels on went right out. Will update if something goes south but otherwise assume that all is well.
The only hard part of the mod was getting the lower glove box valance off and going through the contortions needed to see what I was doing up in there. My light green wire was highly faded and looked almost white until I shined a bright light up in there. Tiny little wires on this system. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred bucks!

*note - the pink wire mode in the last few posts above mine are for 1st gen Tundras.

Just wanted to chime in with my experience. I have a 2012 Lexus that recently had the TPMS malfunction indicator light up (flash for 1 minute, then on solid indicating a TPMS system malfunction). Checked all tires are good, and took to a local shop that told me all sensors are bad (they didn't flinch when I questioned that magically all four sensors died at the same time?). Anyway, I didn't want to pay the $400 the quoted me to replace all four sensors, so took it home and researched the beejezus out of the various hacks out there.

I finally got a subscription to the Toyota Information System to pull up my specific wiring diagram for the TPMS circuit. You can't just go on wire color, in my research the TPMS wiring for all models are all different (different colors, different everything). BUT, I can confirm the procedure in post #63 worked for me with my 2012 Lexus. I did a trial run and stripped back some insulation on the wire going to the indictor on the dash which if a TPMS fault is active, the TPMS ECU drops out the voltage on this wire causing the ECM to turn the light on (like a failsafe). If TPMS is not faulted, then you get +5V on this wire to the the ECM to keep the light off. So I hooked up 3 AA batteries to this wire to apply ~5V, and no light! Take off the 5V and light goes on. I did this so I didn't have to make permanent cuts, etc. and realize I effed up something (I've learned when hacking around like this you have to have a recovery plan!)

So I am going to scotchlok this wire with the wire carrying the ref. 5V signal and all should be good for the long term.

CAUTION: For giggles, I checked the wiring diagram for my 2019 Tundra and it appears this entire circuit has been redesigned. It looks like Toytota switched an analog signal over to a CANbus signal - so this hack does not appear to work on newer Tundras.

If you have a newer Tundra, I STRONGLY urge you to get a TIS subscription, check the specific wiring diagram for your model year and make sure before trying one of these hacks.

Or just pony up the dough to the Toyota dealer for sensors/programming and have it fixed once and for all.:D

Does it have be exactly 5V? Instead of messing around with batteries could you instead run a 12V line with a voltage reducing resistor? Resistors dropping 12V to 6V are readily available and would be easier to deal with. I'm not sure if any are available for just 5V.

I don’t know - I’ve read where people with other Toyota models have tapped the 12V signal from the ignition circuit. But I do know 5V works.

Might be worth a try to see if a 5V resistor is available somewhere to try when the light goes off on mine. There's no way I'm going to pony up $400 to fix a system I don't need.

I am having the same issues with by 07 Tundra CC. TPMS light constantly blinks rapidly whenever the truck is running. I brought it into my local mom-and-pop tire shop yesterday, and they said the same thing ... TPMS computer couldn't communicate. They said the only way to fix it would be to bring it into the dealer and have them reformat the computer. More than likely would be pretty costly ... and for what? Now that I know that my problem is likely in the TPMS computer or the receiver, and not in the sensors. I'm probably going to try this bypass method and see if it does the trick. That blinking light is so damn annoying.

Just double check the wiring - it seems to be different through the various model years. Once you find the right wires the bypass is super easy. If you can’t find the correct wiring diagram you can get a 2-day subscription to TIS to get the right diagram for your specific model.

I just did it. 10 minute job, and no more blasted blinking dummy light! Honestly, the longest part was making sure the glove box was put back on correctly. This was a super easy bypass. I kept looking for the "catch", but there wasn't any (so far).

Has anyone done this on their 2020 yet? I just went to 35's and the temperature change during the day is enough to make my light come on. I kinda want to try doing this mod to a switch, so I can turn the bypass on and off. I would like to be able to see the pressures, but not have the light come on.

I don’t think this hack will work for newer model years. I reviewed the TPMS wiring diagram for my 2019 they change the design to send the TPMS warning via a CAN bus signal.

edit: you might try the TPMS reset switch. If you put on 35s and never reset TPMS that could cause your issues.

Well, shit. I may need to do the pipe bomb trick then.

I did reset the switch, however my problem is that with the 35's, the difference between cold and hot tire pressures here in Montana (Close to freezing at night, 80's and 90's during the day right now) is enough to trigger the warning.

Thanks to the OP and all the folks who chimed in on this post, especially those who posted the wiring diagrams and the J31 connector images. On my 2010 Tundra I removed the panel under the glove box, disconnected the harness to the TPMS ECU, cut the light green wire to the #5 terminal, and connected the body harness side of the cut wire to the yellow wire going to the #6 terminal. No more TPMS light. I did cut the light green wire about 2 inches away from the #5 terminal just in case I'd ever want to return it back to stock. Thanks again guys!
