powell has said he expects rates to stay low through the first quarter of 2023. Ill leave it to your imagination as to why, however if so we have 12 more months of vehicle price increases for sure

Foothills Toyota in Burlington, WA are charging $1,999 over MSRP right now. This is an exchange for a quote on my build, SR5 4x4 Crewmax with the TRD Off-road premium pckg.Foothills.jpg

Canada doesn't mark up and when you couple that with your USD that's worth 1.25 Canadian, you can score yourself one amazing deal up here in Canada.

I wouldn't say those dealerships are "unethical". They are responding to market conditions. However, I will keep that in mind when I do decide to purchase another car - they won't be my first visit.

Also, I usually factory order my cars anyways so I don't mind waiting 3-6 months for delivery from a reputable dealer.

I would never buy a car from a dealership that sells for over MSRP. That action alone tells me that they value the sale more than customer. This speaks to the future relationship you would have with the service department, there is a lack of trust right from the beginning.

Don’t worry there will be enough out there willing to spend more than the msrp on this new tundra. They have to have it. Just like the dealers marking up the Pro’s so high. I can at least say I have never paid more than msrp for my Pro’s and that was at least 2 different dealerships.

Well I am a sucker. I just paid $3,500 over MSRP for. Lunar Rock 2021 TRD Pro. There were only a few new ones in the country and the one on Texas wouldn't do an online deal. It is lame that I had to pay over MSRP but if I wanted this truck I didn't have much of a choice.

As long as there are people out there willing to pay over msrp the dealers are going to keep doing it. Most of them. Our Toyota’s are always going to bring good trade in value if you just hold your ground and wait it out. All of my Toyota’s over the years for trade in I got top dollar. Also all my trade in’s were paid for. Yeah I could flip my 21 Pro and get good money but you will pay top dollar for that new pro. I did not want the new one. Maybe down the road when things level out. Eventually it will but I think it’s going to be quite some time.

You are right. I did have the choice to buy the truck. The fact that it was one of last Lunar Rock TRD in the country at the dealer, the fact that they were willing to work a deal online and ship it to me, the fact that I got a great interest rate, the fact that 2022 is a complete redesign and this is the last year of the V8, and the fact that I paid 40k for my Tesla model 3 a year ago and sold for 45k made me willing to pay $3,500 over MSRP. While I would have liked to pay under MSRP, I just couldn't make it happen

I have found several dealers selling at MSRP but every single one has the bs add ons for nitrogen/tint/etc

Add ons are ranging between 1500-3000 which is basically a markup.

Anyone finding MSRP w/ no add ons or is this just par for the course?

Sorry, but utter nonsense. He did what he had to do in order to get one of the last Lunar 5.7s. May not be you, but so what. Let it go and move on.

When I bought my daughter a used Rav4 at a Honda dealer they told me that this is how dealers now make their money on vehicle sales. When I bought my Tundra in 2018 I told them I wanted no dealer or port add ons. I bought the only one they had with no add ons. They offered to remove all but the tint on a couple.

It is the same at every single dealership it seems.

These are just dealer markups under a different name.

Oh well, it just comes down to whether folks need a vehicle now or they can wait.

Wait till the Fed drops interest rates to below zero to the banks. You think we have inflation now?

Sounds like someone has issues. He CHOSE to pay over invoice. He was able to somewhat justify this bc he made some money by selling his Tesla for a small profit. He seems happy w/ his choice. THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES.

Markets will improve , this nonsense will end. Right now it’s not a right time to buy vehicle anyways. Patience is the virtue.

Some people on this forum are not familiar with how supply and demand work. Also, it’s his money, he can spend it how he chooses. Many of us have not lived through a period of time with high inflation and we are seeing it now. Watching it occur in real time along with vehicle shortages is disconcerting to me but it won’t last forever (I hope).

I'm not an economist but in IMHO I wouldn't be listening to these people jawboning about 'we're going to raise interest rates'. I think you'll see lower rates before you see higher rates. Possibly even negative rates. And IF/WHEN interest rates do start climbing it's time to grab the bug out bag and head for the hills in your new TRD OR.
