Or you could wait two more months after that when production has ramped up and buy the truck you want for $3-5K under MSRP. Patience is a virtue. There are plenty of wealthy people that could afford to pay the $10-20K markup but you'll find very few wealthy who would. They didn't get wealthy by pissing their money down a drain. Any dealership that puts a "market adjustment" on a vehicle will never be approached by me for a quote when I do choose to buy a vehicle. I won't do business with unethical people.

Well, it is the fastest Toyota if you are not counting the Supra. But still, I would only pay MSRP. And currently you can get $7500 tax credit so effectively it's the same price as the regular RAV4
My local dealer told me they sold 2 at MSRP but the wait for an allocation is almost 10 months so patience can save money

It’s no different than what some folks are asking for their vehicles on the used market.

I saw that Rav4 on Reddit, I especially like the 500.00 nitrogen. No way anyone buys that.

I'm not an economist but I believe this is the inflation machine starting to pick up speed. People say this is what happens when you also have the money printing machines running full blast. Not sure if that's a free market example?

I have done this a couple of times, especially when the aftermarket ones either don't wipe correctly or crap out super fast.

I've played the game with dealers many times and bought when it worked and walked when it didn't. Learn the rules and play the game better than the dealers.

Be humble and hold your cards close, don't give any information on your situation. Ford is notorious for the allocation game. My fun ride is a Roush RS3 and got it a $20K below MSRP (purchased New), had them deliver it 450 miles from where I purchased to home.

Bought the wifes 20 RAV4TRDOR well under invoice...............................

I love the balls my mom has. She's been driving the same 4Runner for 18 years. She decided she wanted a new one this year as her last vehicle before she dies. She configured it on the website, printed it out, we took it to the dealer and said "I want this at the price specified from Toyota". They came back with their bullshit "well the times being what they are... difficult getting stock... prices are in fluctuation" She says "That doesn't sound like my problem, you can take my money now or I'll just drive my current 4Runner into my grave and you'll get nothing."

Love my mom. Straight shooter all the way.

I keep telling you guys, $100k for my CC 4x4 2020 Tundra SR5. It does have the coveted TSS port add on package and console safe. Current mileage just rolled 14k miles. If the market keeps going, I'm gonna raise my price to $120k after the first of the year. Better get it now and save yourself some money! The last of the 5.7's!!

She's got a brand new 2022 4Runner Sport MGM Blacked Out on order. While paying MSRP is the "sucker" price, at least she got zero markup or delivery. Should be beautiful, will be her last. I kinda want to buy her 2002 from her but what I would do with 4 Toyotas and only 2 drivers...

The interest rates that are about to start rising will put a halt on the run on vehicles...give it a year or so, you may see them begging you to buy them...or better yet...buy one get one deals like we saw in 2008.

I was just disappointed this economic blip didn't create a longer buying opportunity than it did. There was just about 3 weeks in March when the dealers of large items panicked a bit and were making silly deals believing that they would not make another sale.

I remembered that lesson from the real estate bubble crash and a day after they began locking down business and restricting movement, I bought a new tractor and traded my 2016 Tacoma for a 2020. I saved thousands on both and the 2020 was a pre covid build so I didn't have to worry about some of the current build issues from the employee upheaval and supply chain issues.

Some of the dealers with the ridiculous markups, especially in communities with lots of returning customers, will regret their sales strategy.

ya, thats what my plan is, pick my spot. I can wait as Im in a 2016 with 70K on it so no need to rush

I think I could get 35-40K for this thing now and I don't see that going down anytime soon.

maybe summer or something when things calm down a bit as toyota has said they are going full production 2022

I saw some idiot Today trying to sell his place in line for an allotment of a truck from a dealer that doesnt even exist yet?!

For $2000 you can be 7th in line for a truck at his dealer instead of him.

WTAF is wrong with people these days?
