Man these things are nice. Did you order directly thru Diamondback? Is there any wait time for the them? That smooth cover correct?

Ordered directly from Diamondback on December 21st and received it on February 3rd. Yeah, it’s the smooth finish SE. I took my time installing it. I’ve yet to leak test it......I snugged down center panel (not too tight) and I used four 5 quart jugs of motor oil (say 30-35lbs.) to set the panel locking bars.

I finally installed my Diamondback 270 this weekend after patiently waiting through two weeks of cold and rain. Super happy with the results. I installed the weatherstrip on the forward bulkhead, shims under the bed rail caps, and had time to center the panels, clamp them down and set the locking rods on the rear panel before it got too dark. Then we had a heavy rain last night and I hadn't finished adjusting the locking rods under the forward panels. They just sat on the bulkhead gasket and bed caps. No water got in. Now that everything is tightened down, I'm confident my equipment will stay dry and secured.
I also ordered two sets of anchor cleats but they weren't in the package. Diamondback had 10 staples on each side of the cardboard box but when the pallet arrived, the lid was pulled open on both sides. The packing slip showed they were shipped along with the tonneau and cross bin. I won't name the freight line. I called the Diamondback shipping department and Mike was quick to send out two more sets, no questions asked. I couldn't ask for better service.
It took me while to decide on the DB because of cost but once I realized the importance of protecting my investment in equipment, it was a no brainier. Money well spent. I couldn't be happier with this DB 270 looking forward to putting it in service.

Looks like two smooth SE Crewmax covers were posted to the outlet page. I just purchased one for $1439 with 3 day shipping, and it has a blemish you can't even see.

Thanks to all who provided so much information on this thread. Buy once, cry once!

Also, figured you can always turn around and sell it for $1k in a few years, where a BAK or cheaper cover may only fetch 300-400. Taking a $500 hit either way!

I watched the outlet for a while but just got tired of waiting.

Plan is to keep the truck until it gets totaled or rusts out anyway

debadged, diamondback, window tint, dirty deeds exhaust.
I have the undercover flex and same issue. Every few months the screws fall out the rear panel. Tried threadlock, large gr er sheetmetal screws , still fall out. Diamondback will be in the future.

No matter what I tried it didn’t work. Teflon tape, coat the screw with gorilla glue, etc. I tried it all.

So my HD with the black (not smooth) finish is supposed to arrive next Friday. I’m curious, how easily does this cover scratch? I plan on hauling lumber and pelican cases most frequently on top. Second question is there has been a lot of discussion about applying black silicon to various places. Is this an OCD thing or should I just go ahead and apply it under the bed rail caps while I’m installing the shims?

April 4th is my estimate for the smooth black HD. Can't wait!

The instructions recommend a bead at the front end of the bed side caps. Doesn’t need to be black - it’s underneath. I had slight leaking at the front corners until I did this. I also filled the small gaps between the bed sides and front wall at both corners.

Definitely doesn't scratch easy, haven't thrown a toolbox at it but have tossed random stuff on top and don't have a scratch.

Hey you'll new guy here. Thank you all for sharing those great pictures. I have been looking for tonneau cover for a while and finally run into this forum.

Just wanting to check on the consensus regarding the anchors for the DB SE. Do you all think that having it preinstalled is best?

The tie downs? Do you intend to use them? I did not have them preinstalled and haven’t needed them a single time.

Received Diamondback HD today and got it installed. Super easy, hardest part was tweaking the rods to line up in the bed rails when locking it in place. I ordered it without the cleats installed and am debating whether or not to add them. Super happy with my DB so far.

Just saw this on my IG feed - Uptop has some new brackets that allow their rack system to attach to the top of a diamondback cover. These photos show one on a Tacoma but they have said if you give them the dimensions they can easily assemble one for a Tundra.

Two heights offered, 6” and 11.5”, both allow the panels to open when nothing is mounted on top of the rack.

I should have had mine pre-installed too. Huge pain in the ass and nerve racking drilling holes in my $2100 DB but I got it done. I thought I would like it without the cleats but it was too plain looking.

I have the SE with extra tie downs preinstalled. I'm glad that I got the extras and really glad that I had DB install them.

There's only one right now for a 1st Gen Tundra Access Cab. I inquired about the suitability for the Double Cab since the bed is about 1/2 inch shorter and this is what they told me...otherwise I would have bought it. Whomever picks it up will get a good deal.

"Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately the cover for the access cab and double cab are different in length, width, taper, and locking rod placement. These are not interchangeable. Let us know if you have any other questions at all."

They go fast! When they posted this there were actually three - two double cabs and a crewmax. The crewmax was an SE and it just had some peeling underneath. One of the DC covers just had misaligned cleats. The other had a weird gap. Gone now though!

Looks great Pops! I looked into a full bed slide but was concerned it took up some height for taller items I wanted to store. After tons of research, I decided to make my own with linear slide rails and customized the size to fit my heavy tool systainers. Got the rails on Amazon with a set of 4 bearing blocks for about 80 dollars, and bought extra sets of blocks for another 28. I wanted at least 6 block supporting the panel. I got mine a couple weeks ago right on time. Installed it the day after it came in, looks good, no leaks, no weird looking high panel etc.

I think after reading this thread the biggest takeaway I got was not over tightening the center panel so I was careful with that and I think the main reason why it worked out so well
