Did raising the floor that much put your rear window in danger?

I don’t think so. I could make a headache rack of some sort but to be honest I don’t feel the need. I strap both wheels on the trax system and then have straps pulling the quad back towards the tailgate for a total of four points of contact. I really don’t think there will be any issues.

on my old EX I had a -1 front and +2 back sprockets. I just upgraded to this one in the spring, I haven’t hit the trails too much with it.

I’ve found that people who like FGTs, also have a proclivity toward 400EXs. They’re not the fastest, best handling, or most powerful ATVs, but are by far one of the most dependable and reliable.

I’ve seen a guy with a late model 450r and he had a 250r motor in it with an esr310 kit. New quad handling characteristics with old school power.

A little update…the core trax did not work for me at all. They got pulled out of the steel in the floor when I secured my quad to the deck. Ripped them out and returned them. I now have the two rear tie downs functioning and that’s it. But I have my shell on top so I have a good amount of storage still. But no way to secure bug items with the shell off. Still trying to figure this one out.

Could do that…but prefer not to put holes in the outside of the bed…and the metal likely isn’t strong enough anyways. I’m probably gonna drill holes into the side of the inside of the bed and bolt in two more rings.

it was when gas was cheap. 351 cubic inches pushing a whole 136hp. It didnt care if you were coasting downhill or floorboarded at 90mph. It was gonna get 7mpg. No OD, no a/c, and a benchseat.

Another update. Building a headache rack in shop class. Don’t mind my poor looking welds
    :duh:
I drilled holes in each of the stake pockets and bolted in tie downs we had laying around in the garage. Works like a champ and now I have the full function of my truck back. B76CB9EB-B360-45AB-8949-34283278E8E1.jpg

That window reflection is killing me. Looks like you're driving one home in your center console, and its arms are flailing.

I hate pics toward reflective surfaces. I've seen some things, lemme tell ya.

Haha! Maybe I should change it…when the rack is done I’ll swap pictures. For now I’ll take a picture of the tie downs Instead.

It really isn’t difficult…hardest part really is having a steady hand and a smooth bead. That doesn’t take too much practice for welds under 6 inches long. But welds longer than that are hard for me to keep steady. I’ve never stickwelded though, only mig weld.

the hardest part besides having a smooth hand, for most of us, is finding a welder to use.

It’s so worth a try. Once you gain enough confidence to do small things an entire new world of projects opens up. Do a lot of YouTube learning. I’ve learned a ton with how to set up the welder, and how to make good welds. All from YouTube.
