Alright y’all!! I finally pounced. I have been wanting a Decked system for my First Gen Double cab Tundra ever since I got it. I had been begging Decked to make one for me. Greg Randolph from Decked helped me out a ton by giving me the best model to purchase (details on everything will be below). I decided not to buy a new one because I was going to have to cut it up anyways and that would void the warranty. Just this weekend I bought a Decked system for a 2009-2011 Ford truck (sku is DS2 I beleive) and both my parents and I got involved in cutting it to fit my truck as well as installing it. Here is what we did. I hope you enjoy the finished (almost) product as much as I do.

Step one- I bolted together the two halves with the supplied bolts. I proceeded to cut off 7/8 of an inch on each side.
    980DD2C3-5652-4E0B-8931-FD85BD40521C.jpg
Step two- I unbolted the two halves from each other and I put the drivers side into the bed of the truck. I trimmed about 3/4 of an inch to fit the tailgate bump.
    970B2EA6-02A8-4361-96EC-A3DEB4D73A6F.jpg
Step three- this was the most difficult part of the journey for me. My mom basically made a template of the bedside so that I could draw a line and trim. I had to trim off enough of the system to move it 3 inches closer so it was centered. This was a long and tedious process but it basically ruined the ammo cans in the back. I figured this would happen. I used a sawzall and a jigsaw for the cutting. It was scary cutting into a perfectly good decked drawer system but sometimes you gotta give it a little send.

    The trimmed edge-
    73FE0D04-DDFA-4DEC-8A4F-8192672761A1.jpg

I basically had to butcher the rear ammo cans. I figured this would happen. But this is now what they look like.
    21665FC9-36F4-4E27-B1A5-D59296688616.jpg
Step four- I needed to put a second set of tie down rings in the bed. I put these in the lower corner of the bed and pre drilled holes for them as well. This was a pain in the butt. I don’t have pictures of the finished product because the decked system blocks them. But these are the rings I used. I was able to use the front rings for the decked system 59D17705-E780-4FFC-8F25-70F6ABB96D4B.jpg

The next step was to bolt the two sides together and tie it down. EF840CD8-8E0A-4A1A-91BD-F45F87B44433.jpg

the last step would be to install the drawers and bolt the lower wheels in. I bought it already fully assembled basically so it was fairly straightforward once all the cuts were made and the tie downs were Installed and the deck was tied down to the bed.

here is what I started with. Ford 3/4 ton drawers and a normal truck bed. 09F6168D-1E88-47EC-9C0A-0BA6FB0B97CB.jpg

And here is the finished product- a good decked system with both drawers and both front ammo cans fully functioning!!!C0035EAA-CCBC-49A8-BEB4-E03CE15613AD.jpg

Here is an update with the rear ammo can lids fitting on good. 87FD3AF5-40A4-4AB6-B058-9828802BB548.jpg
I have been dreaming about this for awhile and it has been about a year long process between gathering information and actually buying this system off Craigslist and installing it in the truck. Couldn’t have done it without the help from my family.

Only things left to do are to figure out a way to secure things like an ATV onto the deck and to finish the rear ammo can lids for a cleaner look. 95% done.

Info needed- Decked system is from a 2009-2011 Super Duty Ford truck. I believe the SKU is DS2 on the decked website.

There are some odds and ends here and there (measurements) that will vary on each system and truck that is installed so not everything is perfect…but definitely good enough for me.

I would also like the part number for the screws that hold down the ruler that goes on the top. My decked system did not come with them. Prodding @decked for some freebies… :)

Oh, and one more thing. My dad just bought a decked for his truck too :)

You could use some of the stake pocket tie downs for a 4 wheeler since it's gonna be up higher. Gotta make sure to protect you back window from the 4 wheeler. A removable headache rack would be safest. Decked system looks amazing. Would love one of those.

I feel like Decked should GIVE YOU the freebies after this helpful write-up which will undoubtedly lead to at least a couple of product sales.... :D

Weight capacity is supposed to be 2000 lbs and 200lbs per drawer.

Yeah I was going to do that since it’s probably the cheapest route for me. I’ve never seen a headache rack that quick released…maybe it’s time to make one?

A little update…I went to a screw specialty store in town and bought some screws for the decked ruler that goes on the back. I also ordered some core trax from decked as well. 53D2D0DF-8300-47F2-A8F5-F74907BC958E.jpg
I’d say it’s just about complete!!

    Nice! is that a 300EX, or a later 400EX?

It’s a later 400ex…if 2005 is considered later model:). They are great machines! We’ve got two of them. They’re great in the dunes, trails, and in the desert. Just a well rounded machine.

got it. I've got an early 400ex, the bugeye model without reverse.

Heck yeah! Sweet dude. The bugeye is so cool! At the dunes I’ve seen a couple guys running light cubes instead. Seems easier to mod the bugeye for better lighting than the other ones.

Ended up having an issue with the decked core trax…I had a screw rip out of the system…not good!! I wasn’t overloading anything (just a quad) so I’m wondering what the issue was? Who knows. Kinda upsets me because the core trax alone were 120 dollars and had a combined 1000 pound pull out rating. Much overkill for a fourwheeler. And water leaks in where the screws hold the trax down. Not happy about that either.

We love the dunes on the oregon coast. Close enough for us and beautiful. 24FC2301-924C-4398-97EA-A097DD2307F9.jpg
Stock here except a -1 tooth in the front sprocket and a +3 tooth on the rear sprocket. Top speed isn’t used all that often for me but the gear change allows me to climb dunes in 3rd and downshift to 2nd.

Can you put a block of wood under the deck, that the screws run into? Or plastic, maybe glue em in to grab all the threads, but keep the hole blind?

Thinking about drilling through the steel tubes it is mounted to and bolting each one down. Then caulking around and inside of it. If that fails I’m ripping it all out and patching the holes with Jb weld. I’ll drill holes for different tie down mounts in my bed.

If you watch the Install video the instructions say not to drill through both layers of steel. I for sure only drilled through one layer. It just confuses me why they leak. I bought the drawers because they don’t leak:angrygirl:
