Offer is $40,000 OTD including trade, 09 has 162,000 miles, trade in value has been as low as $6,000-$8,500.

Another offer on Platinum, MSRP $53,667, dealer offer $8,500 off MSRP and $7,000 for trade in. No bed liner, maybe have dealer throw in bed liner. OTD offer $41,773 including Tax and Title.

I think even trading it in you can get more like 10 for the 09

This is why I never trade a vehicle at the dealership.

In 2018 I traded in my 2010 for $19,500. They started at $16000. Within a few days it was up in their website for $26000. I’d like to assume they didn’t get that much for it.

YOU MUST DRIVE THEM BOTH, the Sport looks awesome blacked out from the factory but the sway bars make the rig drive poopy on the highway.
I went with the SR-5, couldn't stand the sway bars.
Also, who is tuning the factory option dual exhaust, Massey Ferguson? Sounds like a tractor rather than high performance.

Very hesitant in completing these due to low trade in values, I researched online at what 2009 Tundras Trucks are selling with exact specs and similar mileage as mine, selling for 15-16K. I understand I have 161,000 miles on my 2009 but still feels like I am giving away for 7K. Maybe will wait for the 2020/2021. This truck has another few years.

Keep in mind that by 2020/2021 your truck will have more miles and will be worth even less as a trade in. There is an optimum time to trade and you are probably already past that, but it goes down from here. Not being negative; just a reality to keep in mind.

The dealer will say that’s what he will list it for, but will have to negotiate and give a sad story about overhead costs.

Always go to the dealer ready to leave. No matter how much you want it, if you plan on leaving you will end up with a better deal. Walk if you need to, there’s always another truck. The people I know who went expecting to leave with a new car always got screwed.

What is your definition of "poopy?" I have an SR5 with Sport Package that I just did a trip from FL to OH and it was perfect.

I thought the sway bars keep the truck from rocking....
The sway bar name is incorrect - They are actually Anti-sway bars or stabilizers that prevent body roll and therefor improve handling.

Clarification; "with the anti-sway bars installed it turns normal SR-5 right to left swaying on a straight road from say 4-6 inches at a time to less than 2 inches of sway at a time. This modifies the ride and makes the swaying more abrupt and harsh which also can feel jittery".

I vote Sport because I have a Sport and if I could do it again, I would get a Sport.

I installed the sway bar on my SR5 TRD Off Road, it doesn't feel jittery to me at all. The difference is subtle, but I'd say the back end feels a bit tighter and somehow more "connected". I like it.

Dealership: We would like to give you the absolute most for your trade so that you won't have to pay as much for your new vehicle, tip the scales in your favor so to speak.

    Right.

Dealers wouldn't be in business with the giant luxury waiting rooms and all the "free" services they offer if they didn't pull in the revenue from somewhere else. That being, your pockets.
