Decided to trade in my 2009 SR5 Tundra DC for a 2019 Tundra 4 x 4 TRD Sport Cremax, just trying to decide on color, MGM, White or long shot Cavalry Blue. Was all set until I found a 2017 Tundra Platinum 4 x 4 crewmax with 27,000 miles listed at $38,000.
Is the 2017 Platinum worth considering over a 2019 TRD Sport?

Going from a 2009 to a new one the main thing I see on here are some guys saying the seats are more comfortable in one or the other I think the say the platinum are better seats if thats even something your into but as you know the 2nd gen seats are nice. If it was me I would get a platinum because all the trd stuff is just stuff you can after market later. Have you concidered the 1794 edition those are sweet too.

When I was looking at new Tundra's, I had a Grade II hip flexor strain and the '19 Platinum where the only seats that were comfortable enough for me. Not too stiff or too spongy.

The main reason I like the TRD Sport is color matched bumpers.

Platinum hands down. Could have bought a low-miles platinum for a few thousand more than I paid for my limited last year, but I decided to be cheap instead. Still regretting it.

I hear you there. My tundra was the only thing that was comfortable after my spinal fusion surgery. I am going from a 2018 platinum to a 2019 TRD pro. I’ll let you know the difference in comfort.

I got a Platinum for the comfort addition it has to offer. Save a little longer and spend for the upgrade. Your “bun” will thanks you.....cooled vented leather seats, or warm when I gets colder

Platinum. Plus in a 17 you get the big gas tank, also you wont have to deal with the TSS issues with a pre 2018. Platinum has a lot of other nice features as well.

I went with the sport. Felt like I’d rather spend the difference on other upgrades. I actually prefer the cloth seats, but will definitely miss my heated seats. My last car had cooled seats as well, it wasn’t something I ever felt I couldn’t live without. The sport hood scoop I like too. Happy with my decision.

Technically the seats are only vented, not cooled. So they will be as cool as the inside of the truck. To make sure your bum is cool, you need a remote starter to turn the truck and air on before you get in.

What is the actual dealer price, not including TTL as TTL varies considerably by state. It is a great time to buy a Tundra as they are not selling well. Local San Antonio news just did a bit on how the Tundra is not selling well this year. They blamed it on Toyota not refreshing the truck for 2020. I think it has more to do with consumer reports dropping it as best buy after poor passenger offset crash test and the low mpg sticker vs what other trucks show as sticker mpg. Wish I waited a year and I could have picked up Platinum for what I paid for limited.

WHatever model you get, make sure it has:

    1) LED headlights.
    2) 38 gallon tank.

I’d go with the Platinum and upgrade the suspension aftermarket. Get the best of both worlds.

OTD for 46-48, minus your 8k trade, depending on your state sales tax

Unless your 09 has like 250k miles it's likely worth more than 8k and they're playing games with your trade too
