I've read mixed reviews on whether it's worth going down that road or not. We'll see how the forced update works and go from there though. Worst case, I bite the bullet on a legit head unit from a reputable brand like I normally would.

My Dasaita headunit is sitting in a box in the basement. Their attempts to remotely assist with it ended up bricking it entirely, it no longer boots at all. Sure, the screen lights up, the logo shows, but nothing worked, not even rolling Android versions back.

Their "solution" was "pay for shipping to send it back to us, plus another $300, and we'll replace it." Their warranty isn't a warranty, and I now suggest people purchase these with a 3rd party warranty like SquareTrade, or view them as disposable. But if you find a way to fix yours, you're welcome to take a crack at mine. I replaced it entirely with a Kenwood DMX1037S back when we could swipe them from BestBuy's sale for $450.

I did take my post down but this is what I was seeing. Regardless, from the reviews of them I'll be passing.

I’m really liking the Joying so far. Only real issue is my location on Waze isn’t always accurate. I wouldn’t think it’s a radio issue since I’m running CarPlay but they’ve sent me an update to install and try. I went from the 10.2” Dasaita to the 11.6” Joying. It’s a little more of a floating display than I wanted, but I love the bigger screen.

@SRQRUSTY, these android Chinese radios certainly aren’t as refined as the name brands like Pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood, but you don’t get the expand ability with those like you do these. If you’re ok with a few bugs/quirks to put up with, I think the pros outweigh the cons.

That's cool. Did you figure out the fader problem? I always missed it in the Dasaita. I think I've read that people got it with the maestro. If so, is get it for my next one as the 2020 has many more modern digital info than the 2008. BTW, I thought voices always came mostly from the dash, center speaker, as that is typical with center channels. I listen to a lot of talk radio, Howard, so I've gotten used to it... But music sounds does get louder at the doors etc at the same volume

No, the fader hasn’t worked but it doesn’t bother me. I thought the Maestro was for the 2.5 gens?

in any case the audio sounds good. I just happened to have my ear next to the door speaker and hear mostly the mids and lows which is probably by design. Just wasn’t sure as I hadn’t paid attention to it before.

Hey guys, just got the G12 256gb installed in my truck.. the cost vs usability is probably overkill going for the 256gb but oh well. Question, I cant get reverse cam to work. The unit switches over when I put it in reverse, but no image and has the no signal icon. Also i guess Zlink isnt registered/needs activation? i tried looking for a phone app but couldnt find one on my android phone. If anyone has any suggestions, appreciate it!
2015 tundra non-jbl. Got the cam plugged into the cam in.

The harness also has a ground, anyone connect the ground?

My dad is in town this weekend and i thought we would get this all installed tonight before a car show to go tomorrow, guess Ill have to finish all the final touches later.

There are two camera inputs on the unit IIRC, switch to the other one and it should work.

Thanks guess I'll have to mess with it more. I did try swapping the input around .
I think there was a ccg+ 12v wire maybe that triggers it?

@hypertek, I would think with a 2.5 Gen you wouldn’t need that trigger wire. Anything using CANbus would use that to tell the unit it’s in reverse.

if the head unit is switching to reverse camera when you put in reverse but no source or image, then I would think you have the wrong camera connections mated or you have the wrong CANbus setup in the head unit.

I have a 2013 and don’t remember having to wire up that trigger wire.

on my 2017 non jbl i didnt need to wire up the trigger wire with both units I've installed.
also I didn't need to connect the ground wire, saw somewhere that was for the jbl guys or aftermarket amp, I really can't remember but I see no harm in wiring it either.

would also double check the can bus like others stated and make sure you have the correct one. Should be the CB004 for your non jbl, not the CB047.

for the zlink, try connecting the unit to wi-fi, then opening the app

Thanks guess I'll have to try different ones? This is how they are labeled. I suppose that's also why my steering wheel controls aren't working

option 8 is what we're supposed to use. i set mine to that and all my controls work, didn't have to rebind any functions.

I just swapped from the max 10.2 version to the scout 11.6 version and I can’t get my rear camera to work for anything now. Everything is hooked up exactly like I had it with the other unit. I can get the front camera to work but not the rear. The rear will show up if I place it in the front cam rca. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I can keep this one and not have to go back to the 10.2.

your oem cam wired in to the harness that has the green rca on it or the one with out it?

when I swapped over from the android10 13.3" to the android11 10.2", the oem backup cam connection was changed.
on my 13.3 it was wired to the harness without the green rca, on the 10.2 my oem backup cam is wired to the bundle with the green RCA

The one i currently have is the 11.6 scout unit and it has android 10. The camera worked fine on my 10.2 max unit with android 11. I have tried it in every available plug. The only one it will work in is the front cam rca and I can’t use it there because I have a front cam. So frustrating. I may end up going back to the 10.2 even though the other screen has better resolution.

did you use the harnesses that came with the new unit or did you unplug the connections from the back of the old unit and just plug them in to the new one?
only ask because I originally tried reusing the harnesses from the 13.3 on the 10.2 but my backup cam wouldn't work on any rca. Once I swapped all the harnesses to the ones that came with the new unit, my backup cam worked again.

I reused the harness from the other unit. They looked exactly the same. I swapped them and the camera worked. Unreal that was what caused me all of this trouble. I appreciate your responses. Thank you for your help.

The other question I have is can these be updated to a newer android system? The only reason I swapped to this unit was for the larger screen and higher resolution than my 10.2. I’m not sure about this scout launcher either.

I don’t think you can change the Android version but typically you can change from MAX10 to VIVID to SCOUT.

    no problem

dasaita use to have a whole thread on how to update from android 10 to 11 but it was a whole convoluted process, required a laptop and you ran the risk of turning it into a paperweight.
in the end they stated its not a good idea to update since even a successful update seemed to have issues afterwards.
best option is if you're within the return window, get a 11.6 unit thats already on android11, or one of their newest units running android12.

if you dont like the scout launcher you can always swap to vivid or max. the downloads and instructions are on their forum.

Thanks for the replies. Pulled the headunit off and realized the harness didn't have the canbus box , the other included harness had it, so I moved it over . Also just made the amp bypass harness . Can't wait to slap it back together

Is there a way for me to connect my hotspot to the head unit without it knocking me off of CarPlay?

I think the radio can only do one or the other. Wireless CarPlay uses both low power Bluetooth and WiFi to connect to your phone. So you can’t hotspot at the same time.

Yes, but it does take a bit of menu surfing to get it done.

Memorize the 'Factory settings passcode' which I think tends to be 0126 or something, as you'll need to use it!

Getting ready to install my 3rd Dasaita, the G12, in my 2020 Sequoia TRD Pro. I've read these pages over and over over the years and I can't seem to find what's needed for the newer model Sequoias. I've installed the Dasaita Max10 (and Vivid11) in my 08 Sequoia w/ JBL, and since there is new tech in the 2020, I'm concerned that I won't be ready for the install and could potentially lose tech due to lack in planning. Wondering what additional harnesses/connectors I would need to not lose the most stuff - big concerns are the data USB and two USB chargers. I'm going to purchase another dual USB port so the Dasaita dual USBs can be installed and accessible. The new canbus harness for the newer Sequoias is CB004 and that is coming in from China. Anything else?? I added a couple pics on how I had things in my 08 and I'll probably move to that sans the Aux Input, which was used for my SiriusXM plug and play unit that won't be installed in this rig.

Anyone having issues with their remote start not working after installing a 10.2? Compustar w/drone mobile in a 2018 non-jbl key to start. Everything seems to work fine after self trouble shooting the rear and front camera. Only thing I'm seeing what's going wrong with mine is that my remote start won't fully turn on as it only gives up halfway. - Edit* my remote start module needed a update.

Also anyone else have issues skipping sings on Spotify but paused music after skipping sings?
