So I started off with the Dasaita 9" Head Unit (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TZXZMJC?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details) and had it for the past week or so. Functionally it worked great and the apple carplay worked smoothly through the link app. However, there was a slight gap from the bezel not being able to seal properly at the bottom compared to the factory head unit design. Also initially with the metra bracket looked like it would be tricky to attach so there was nothing securing it really besides the upper tabs.

So to I decided to go with the "floating" 10.2 even though I was hoping to achieve a more flush fit. Here's a comparison of the head units.

The 10.2" (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W4BYDV6?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details) actually fit pretty snug and the scosche mount (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TYBBO5Q?ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details) was a lot higher quality than the metra mount. Like the brackets on the scosche mount a lot better too as well as the finish.

Does it look out of place to you or does it block the vents? Thanks

Looks fine to me, was 50/50 on if I'd like it or not before I installed it, but after I got done and messed with it, doesn't seem out of place personally. The edges of the screen barely cover the edges of the vents but doesn't bother me.

Welp just my luck. Seems I have an issue with the unit, the screen flickers...a lot, and there's some green lines the flicker throughout the display when the whole screen isn't flickering on and off.

That sucks. Are you sure it’s not just a connection issue with the radio and display?

Yea, that's what I thought it could have been too, but I disconnected all the wiring, the display from the unit and reconnected it again, made sure everything seated properly. No luck unfortunately.
On the plus side I ordered though Amazon so I'll be returning it. I already have another one on order set to arrive Friday, hope this ones good. If the new one also has the same issue I'll probably look into one of the smaller units.

@Ryuu Would you please let me know what's your CAN-bus setting for your truck? I had 2016 limited. Thanks in advance.

Was told by Dasaita to use option 8 for the canbus, so I just used that. Everything works, steering wheel controls, etc.

@Ryuu, Thanks for reply. I don't see that option no. 8 in my car setting. Can you please post a picture of your setting. Thanks again.

Sure, did the steps like the video above. Defaults work fine for me for now so I didn't mess with the button assignments like the video.

Anybody here install one of these in a 2021? Looking to order and wanted to make sure all the little things I might need before I start pulling stuff out. I have a 2021 TRD OR, non JBL and looking at the 10.2” VIVID, scout, max6, max10 or the px6… lol what the heck are the differences?

Does anyone know exactly which canbus I’d need? I think aside from the dasaita unit itself, the canbus “may” be the one thing I need separately unless I’m mistaken.

Anyone upgrade their Max 10 to the Vivid ROM? Wondering if it worked ok and worth it.

Update on this: New unit I ordered arrived today, and got it swapped in. New unit has no flickering on and off or weird green lines flickering. Looks like the first unit I had ordered has some sort of defect, so that one gets returned Monday. So far really liking the 13.3 though!

    none yet!!
Easy no instructions needed, just match up all plugs and good to go. I didn’t have to hook up with the black ground cable. Also I have non jbl so I ended up an extra plug that I assume it was for jbl system.

Thanks Fellas, it appears that the scorshe mounts do not sit in the right spots on mine, so will retrofit the metal mounts from the toyota. The facia should be able to click in behind the large screen. Will work on it again tomorrow.

Yep also ended up with an unused plug on the CANbus.
Also don't have JBL so the black ground was unnecessary, if you hook it up it causes a hissing noise, so just wrapped it with electric tape when I managed the wiring.

anyone know if you can create shortcuts on the SCOUT software? i have to scroll through at least 2, if not 3 screens before i can access the front camera app and I was hoping there was a faster way to access it...

I have a 2021, just got the dasaita unit in and curious as to which harness I need. The back of the headunit pictures are attached. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

You could try this one, https://www.amazon.com/Dasaita-CAN-Bus-Adapter-Installation-Amplifier/dp/B08DTZXPQ3 . If it doesn't work you can easily return it.
You can also message the seller you bought it from, send them that picture, one of the front of the radio and with the year, model, jbl or not, steering wheel controls and USBs so they can send you one.

Personally I just bought it from Amazon since I didn't know how long it would take for the free one to arrive, but I'd still message them though.

I would reach out to whoever you bought it from or Dasaita directly. There are several harnesses and I even bought the wrong one the first time as the description was wrong on Amazon.

I don't think there is, someone on the Dasaita forum also asked about rearranging apps and creating shortcuts but all Dasaita said was there was a big update to Scout coming next month. The new update might have the feature added but who knows.

I was going to suggest to try NOVA launcher on it but someone on a review mentioned the scout Firmware won't let it work.
The only way I've seen so far to fully customize would be to change the Firmware over to MAX10 and use NOVA launcher to customize everything.

Did you ever end up switching the firmware to Vivid?
Since you're on MAX10 you can get Vivid Launcher on the google play store to get a feel for it without having to go to the ROM

I have a 2009, and have a pioneer unit and it's terrible. I'm considering this unit but want the best picture quality.
