Dasaita Android Head Unit

Installed, broke some tab on bottom of hu. Smh. So there is a little gap between hu and climate control panel. Oh well.
Still having issues doing wireless car play but work great connected.
Overall I’m impressed speakers sound so much better.

 

Well the 13.3 Scout headunit, can-bus and and coaxial adapter arrived today. Just waiting on the dash kit, maestro gps adapter and the usb adapter to arrive. Hopefully I'll be able to install it on the weekend.
In the meantime here's a pic of the screen, box and some measurements.

So I got a dasaita 10.2 head unit. I was looking at the Alpine halo, but this was a third of the price. I ordered the maestro Rr2 and To2 wiring kit, but the Rr2 is not compatible with dasaita’s. I just ordered the gps adapter and the antenna adapter. Not sure what else I will need for the install. Any help?

 

CANBUS adapter for the Tundra (and your stock head unit's wiring).

 

My 9” came with everything needed for install except the gps adapter. Canbus and all wiring was included.

 

Thank you, guys. Yea my wiring harness doesn’t match up to the factory wiring. Gonna look for a CANBUS kit. I put the front camera in today. Now I just gotta find the CANBUS kit. The maestro kits seem pretty much to be a write off, shoulda looked here before I bought them.

 

Quick question.
Really like the price point and performance (once it's all sorted out)
So it seems like the potential for it to be a bit of a struggle is there.
Which I am reluctantly willing to take on.
But thinking about when I have to replace my battery. Would I have to go through all the adjustments / settings again?

 

I hope my 11.6" screen comes with wiring and CAN-bus as well. @Hooligan(ret) how long does it take to ship from China to USA? Thanks

Does the Dash trim kit by Metra include screws to use with the dasaita head unit?

 

Where is the 13.3 that has 5G support? The vivid only shows 4g

 

They don't have a 13.3 with 5G. I looked for it too before I bought mines. They only have a few Vivid models that support 5G but they're for specific vehicles.

 

Did you use a bracket for the 9 inch? Also do the bottom clips fully go in?

 

Does anyone here have the 13.3 inch unit in a 2.5 gen? Looking for some pictures. Went through about 15-20 pages so far. And does anyone in this thread have a Dasaita in a 2021?

I didn’t use the bracket, I broke bottom clips on the new unit so not sure.

 

got the same one as @gregfocker77520. For the most part, it's a straight forward install. If you were able to wire in the FRAC harness, it's not too hard to do this. HOWEVER, I didn't get any brackets with the system, and the original brackets don't work on this, so it's really just held in by the two clips in each top corner. I may try a metra single-din bracket, but if memory serves me correctly there wasn't any mounting holes in the side of the body either. I didn't break the bottom clips either, but there seems to be a tiny bit of trouble to seat the thermostat controls all the way. There's also still a bit of a gap between the thermostat and the new radio.

FWIW, it seems like the speakers are louder with this unit, and there are a ton of features. Carplay is fine (I have an iPhone) but what I really wish there was was a way to get to the front camera app faster. With the OEM HU, I was using the FRAC harness so flipping to front view is a breeze. As it stands right now, if I'm not using CarPlay, I have to go to "more Apps", swipe left 2 times, and then open the "FCAM" app to view my front camera. Not sure at the moment if I'm going to keep this unit (I think I can still return before Jan 30) and try to get a floating headunit instead. The gap does kind of kill me a tiny bit.

 

Do these head units work with the 2012 OEM Platinum crewmax JBL system?

 

yes, just make sure you have the correct CAN-bus for your truck

 

Welp was going to install this today but ran into a fitment issue. Turns out the metra dash kit has an edge on the inside that doesn't let the DIN stick out enough to connect the 13.3 to it, the back of the screen hits the dash kit so it can't be connected.


The scosche kit doesn't seem to have the stupid edge so have it on order now to see if that one will work and returning the metra.

 

So the scosche dash kit ended up getting here today, looks like a local Amazon warehouse had it instock yesterday and they were able to 1 day ship it. Much better fitment compared to the metra.
Was finally able to get the 13.3 installed today. No pics of plugging in the connections and adapters since its pretty much the same as what has been posted before.

So here's some pics of what it looks like. First pic is when i was test fitting and making sure everything worked. Rest of the pics are after fully installing. When you turn on the headlights, the screen dims into night mode and the leds on the left of the screen light up.

 

How does it compare to the 10 inch?

 

Not sure, this is the first Dasaita unit I have ever owned. Probably just the screen real estate and resolution, the 13.3 is 1080p while the 10 is 720p. Pretty sure as far as features go they probably share all the same features.

 

My 11.6" screen just arrived today after 2 weeks. I will share the picture after installation.
