I have someone else interested as well. Will let you know if it doesn’t end up working out. Still in “communication” with Dasaita on AliExpress. They don’t seem to understand that I am not shipping this thing back on my dime. They keep saying “Help us out. Ship parcel back.” This is after repeated attempts of stating that I’m not paying to ship. They just keep saying the same thing.

Two questions, some of the other posts made it sound like there's a discount code somewhere? And, this will run a front camera without purchasing the separate FRAC harness, correct? Can I still turn the front camera on while in motion through the HU?

Uhhhh, what is the link for? It doesn't work, but it sounds like I might be interested in it

Hahahaha "We don't want you to keep this expensive item that we sent you by mistake, but we also don't want to pay for the shipping to get that expensive item back. Please be an idiot and send it back without making us pay for our mistake."

#1 This link is for the discounted head unit. It’s $480 shipped and includes head unit, carplay dongle, and canbus.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QV6RQ4N?ref=myi_title_dp

#2 Yes, this will run a 2nd camera without having the FRAC harness. You can view the front or rear camera even in motion.

The link is for a wireless version of the Carplay dongle. What you will receive in the Amazon link is the non-wireless version. It is not a Dasaita product. To view the link, copy and paste the whole URL into a browser.

Yeah, they went from having decent English to now it’s almost unintelligible. Problem is that they are holding my payment hostage. They returned my money for the canbus and dongle, but have yet to receive my refund for the head unit. I guess since it was shipped before I requested a cancellation (even though the order details in AliExpress said it had not shipped and I did not receive any indication that it did ship) it is deemed as order fulfillment. AliExpress was also weird in the fact that it gives you a time frame where the seller could still ship the item even after a requested cancellation. Apparently the seller has to “Approve” the cancellation and can still choose to ship the item within that specified timeframe (7 days).

@VTYOTA Thanks for the great info! I might have to fire up the ol' Amazon card and spend some money. I don't feel so bad now knowing that I don't need a FRAC harness to use a front camera.

That sounds like quite the catch system they've got in place to ensure they get their money even if the customer changes their mind.

If you do decide to order off of Amazon, be sure to contact them through Amazon. They want to make sure to send you the right canbus harness.

If you change the "Shutdown Delay when ACC Off" setting to Auto Sleep, the unit will now always fast boot. Takes less than 5 seconds for the device to boot.

Settings > Car Settings > Extra Settings > Shutdown Delay when ACC Off - [Set to Auto Sleep]

Disclaimer: I've read that this may draw a very small amount of power from the battery. If you drive your truck every day, then you should be fine. Mine was in "Auto Sleep" all night and my Tundra fired right up this morning.

@jmevis I think we will need to ground the wire. I noticed a slight hiss in the speakers when just turning the ignition to the ACC position. Didn't notice it before with the truck fully running.

You are probably right, @916tundra ran his to his amp grounding point and that made the hiss go away.

Interesting, I hear a slight white static noise when truck is off and I turn on ACC. I may pull mine apart again and look for a ground, but I really thought I didn't have one.

I haven't noticed a hiss so I have left it alone for now.

I guess that is why there is a saying "Ignorace is bliss" because now I hear it with the engine running. :(

Just an FYI - I've been running an android HU for about a year and the white noise you're hearing is a problem with the deck. I've tried everything to get rid of it...grounds, filters, unplugging wifi ant., gps ant.,.Nothing makes it go away. It's part of the deck. You do get used to it though and I forget about it anymore. But don't waste your time trying to fix it.

When I ran the ground wire to the amp grounding point, it reduced the noise dramatically for me, I would say 95%. I could only hear it if I put my ear right next to the speaker.

Once my truck is on, I can’t hear it anymore, that’s how quiet it is. Idling V8 is louder than the noise

Auto Sleep must be the new update for the 9.0 units, 8.0 only has 1 hour shutdown delay. I want to update mine to 9.0 but worry I might run into problems (just being paranoid)

Even stone cold boot is 15 seconds for me, so I just leave it at 30 min in case I am running errands.

Very happy with boot times. Even happier that rear cam works independent of the Android OS, but no grid lines until it’s fully booted.

    15 seconds is pretty fast.

I have remote start and will probably try to figure how to boot the HU with ACC wire. I know the Tesla guys can do it but the wiring harness is different

Yes and no. The audio-not-playing issue was most likely an out of date version of Pandora. Once I updated it and restarted my iPhone I haven't had it happen again.

I still get the weird error text on my display every once in a while. Sometimes the app crashes afterwards, or it doesn't.

Weird, but not bothersome as it's leaps and bounds better than the JBL radio that was in there before.

I'm going to try a firmware update (if available) through the app itself when I get home today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kX3poJu2wPQ

That looks good, should have put mine there. I did the same as 916 and just put it above those buttons and tucked the wire.

I finally found out what was causing the "no audio" issue. On my unit at least, if I was connected and playing audio from the A2DP app and try to switch to Pandora in CarPlay, they cant function together. I have to close A2DP and then the system redirects audio to CarPlay.

I haven't ran mine yet. I was thinking of mounting it just behind the steering wheel on the pillar. Also do you guys know if its a 2.5 or 3.5 mm. Looks like some aftermarket mics are 2.5mm

It looks like a regular sized headphone jack so probably a 3.5mm.

How does the sound quality compare to the stock mic and HU? I always just end up picking up my phone and talking since people complained.

For me it improved, my 2007 mic was terrible and my wife always complained she could barely hear me. Now she says it's like I am on the phone itself.
