I just had one about the GPS antenna. There was a white connector and black connector and I wasn't sure which one to hook up the Maestro GPS wire. I hooked up the black connector, but I don't think it was the right one.

Yeah, I'll have to switch it to the white connector later tonight. Thanks!!

Just remembered that you had posted a picture on @916tundra 's build thread that showed the one with the black connector. He said it wasn't used.

Well, I am waiting. With the trouble I am having with my wired one, I don't trust wireless. Though we are set up for it well with both bluetooth and wireless on our Dasaitas.

I sent them a message through AliExpress to ask if there is a newer firmware/apk version. Are you guys running 2018.11.09.1746?

I'll have to test my unit with my wife's iPhone. Granted I haven't used mine much, but I haven't had issues with Android Auto. I'll check on the version later today.

I remember that @jmevis didn’t use the ground wire and his HU works fine. I ran the wire to the amp ground point. Guess it is not even needed

Weird. I restarted my phone, going to go retry in my truck here in a little, I reboot it like...once every 2 months so maybe it just needed a reboot.

What iPhone are you using? Running the latest firmware? Could it be that you got a defective CarPlay adapter? Maybe try a different iPhone

    iPhone 7 Plus, 12.2

    Possibly.

I feel like an idiot that I ran into issues with the software on the unit and factory reset it, so it nuked whatever version of the Carplay APK that was preinstalled. I used the one I linked in your old thread, don't know if it was a buggy version or not.

I have messaged them for a new version, we will see.

Do your steering wheel controls work? Thats when mine stopped beeping, after I selected the CANBUS type in the factory settings menu.

Yes, all my steering controls work. I didn't have to do anything special to make it work (ie. change the CANBUS type in factory settings).

Interesting.... Can you tell me what yours is set to? Do you know how to get in there and find that setting? I miss the beep.

Settings -> Car -> Factory settings I think?

    Password is 126

Canbus is the 2nd or 3rd option from the right.

On my second gen I am on 08 - Camry/Rav4 - but my TPMS doesn't work, but steering wheel controls do. However I had to map my controls manually, so I don't think it interfaced with my car correctly. I sure would like TPMS so I am going to mess with it later.

Also, I think my Carplay issues are Pandora/iPhone related.

Spotify works the first time, every time.

I’m suspecting based on Android OS this unit has a newer processor than the Tesla one. Once these come out with higher res IPS screens (currently 1024x600), I’m jumping ship.

Retaining HVAC, higher dash footprint creating an OEM look are pluses. One of the few advantages I see with my Tesla unit is more clandestine video and game playing for my kids when driving since I have distracted driving laws where I am.

If you don’t already have an Android HU, imho this Dasaita is the way to go.

Thanks Ken for creating this thread!

Go into the app, don’t connect your phone. Will show in bottom corners version of app and firmware of box.

Apparently you can try self-updating from the settings menu
