I read the product description on Amazon. It does not state that it has apple CarPlay built in.

I recently purchased the same head unit and I specifically asked them if I needed a dongle or not and they told me it was built in. I'll be installing it next weekend.

Okay i think you might be right, there are a few of them, looks exactly the same. The one i bought didn't mention carplay, i'm looking at this link and it does say it has carplay

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XD8SJHQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=B07XD8SJHQ&qid=1567670855&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Here is the one I bought:
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TK2LV3S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'd send them an email. They usually respond within 24 hours.

Looks like you guys will need to buy a separate dongle, but message them first to see if that’s true or if they can send you a free one.

The dongle is like $100, i'm just going to return this one and buy the one with the built in CarPlay, thanks for your help 916Tundra. I didn't take the plastic covering off the unit yet so it still wrapped and looks new. The one with the CarPlay built in is only a few dollars more so.

Well, here is the reply to my email to them asking if I needed a dongle or not for CarPlay : "And we will send you the model with bulit-in carplay." Maybe they upgraded me. I guess I'll find out next weekend.

Are they really charging $100 for a dongle now? I bought mine for around $40, granted it was from AliExpress.

Yeah that's what it says on Amazon, after taxes and shipping it's like $130. Anyways i started a return, Amazon made it easy as it was fulfilled by them when i placed my order, i just have to bring the box to the nearest Kohls and they'll package it up and send it out at no charge. I already ordered the correct one. God bless america, in my country when you try to return shit they'll just slap you in the face and tell you to go play in traffic.

    **FIXED**

I tried another USB and it worked flawlessly the first time...

Those of you that have updated. I have formatted my usb with the headunit but when I put it in my computer to put the update file on it my computer wants to format it as well.

    How do i fix this?

I just formatted it with computer, put update file on it and updated the headunit. Never formatted it with the head unit first.

Format on head unit and pull drop down from top of screen to find sd card and select Eject.

I usually use the map sd card slot

Has anyone updated their MCU to V3.37 yet?

I read on another forum where someone was having issues after updating.

    Welllll crap.

Didn't even get an update installed but just inserted the USB. Lost connectivity to my TPMS. Did a factory reset now it looks old school and no auto play?

I just installed the Dasaita unit in my 2008 Tundra Limited with the JBL system. Everything is working for me except Sirrus-XM, but I never used that feature so no real loss. The ZLink app is the one you want to launch to use carplay in these units. I have it working wired and wireless. I like the unit so far. I found an adaptor for my OEM GPS and one for my factory backup camera. I did have to buy the extra canbus for the JBL system. Still learning what this thing can do but all the steering wheel controls work so I'm happy. The backup camera was the hardest part about the install. I also bought the USB and HDMI plugs for the Tundra too. Makes the install cleaner than having wires in the glove box.

I bought the one with carplay builtin.

Planning on buying this HU with the built in Carplay but had a few questions on the HU itself.

    https://www.amazon.com/Dasaita-Rotatable-Android-Vehicle-Navigation/dp/B07VBBZFBG/

    1. Can you still do wired carplay with it or does it need the dongle as well?
    2. Are you able to change the color of the buttons on it?
    3. If I buy this on Amazon will I have to purchase anything other than the adaptor to retain my USB port?

    1. Can you still do wired carplay with it or does it need the dongle as well? If it is like mine should be able to do wired carplay too.
    2. Are you able to change the color of the buttons on it? I don't have this unit but mine does. This the best review out there for it is by John Nguyen on YouTube.
    3. If I buy this on Amazon will I have to purchase anything other than the adaptor to retain my USB port? These units come with USB-A female ports from what I can see. So a USB-A male to Toyota should work. I would confirm with the vendor but it's fairly cheap so even it doesn't work you won't be out much. You thinking something like this? https://www.amazon.com/PAC-USB-TY1-...FGNYJBN6SW8&psc=1&refRID=F38B8VEDXFGNYJBN6SW8

@INDEED , I have 2019 Tundra as well......do you have a list of what you bought to make it all work??? Did you install yourself? How was it? I'm seriously thinking of getting this HU, and just want to know what it takes. Thanks!

I was emailing back and forth with daisata to buy the head unit, and the price has gone up over 150 just in the time it took me to get replies. I think the value of using this head unit over something more simplified is fading. It’s about to be Black Friday and cyber Monday. I’m pretty sure great deals will be had from more common brands of large screen radios. Just a thought.

Those who update... When you format on the HU it loses the update file. But when I go back to my PC to add the erased file I have to reformat for Windows. Basically a cycle of reformatting and deleting.

How do you add the file after formatting to the HU?

Don't bother formatting it in the headunit. Just format it as FAT32 on the pc.
