A quick update: Avg. MPG has been 15.3 on display, but actual numbers calculate out to 15.7 MPG around town. Calculated 17.5 cruising @ 84 going through UT. Still haven't figured out how to reset the MPG - anybody help with that?

This didn't work for me. Holding the DISP button as Danimal86 stated worked, however.

Do the DAP tunes turn off the AIP system? I would rather spend 600 for a tune than 350 for the bypass kit..

Interesting, did he explain why? that is, what does the DAP tune do, specifically, to either by-pass or fix the AIP issue?

Yeah, I just watched the video on what all the OVT can do, and it looks pretty cool. Just the full tranny control is worth quite a bit to me.

Yep I hear OVT has a bit more power and is more of a true tune, how ever you want to take that. Since OVT is moving they aren't selling tunes at the moment, I think I will wait till spring to decide. Wish DAP would do updates to their tune.

My DAP Tune seems to be working fine, no issues so far, truck runs strong but it's my only after market mod to my truck. I'd like to install a cat-back to get a little more out of it

I have it. So far it's been awesome. I had the TRD tune before this and that's it, but it's considerably smoother and the full manual shifting is dope. Can lock it into 6th on the interstate and hit a hill and it doesn't shift at all and just opens the throttle up which is awesome.

Alright boys and girls, I got my order into OVT just prior to their move and I just installed the tune today. There will be more updates and such as I drive the truck, but I'd like to just start things off here. A few notes before getting into it:
    - Mathew at OVT suggested I revert back to stock tune before installing the OVT tune. Good advise.
    - I had to take the truck out of town for work, which involved several hunderd miles of highway driving while back on the stock tune. And the difference between DAP back to stock is definitely noticeable. Tooling around town was not quite as noticeable, but there was something missing, I felt. Shifting seemed harsher while back on stock tune. Back to the highway experience, pulling onto the highway - holy shit, the difference was very noticeable. Not near the power that DAP provided. That goes for passing, as well. Basically, just getting up to speed and accelerating on the highway was less robust and required more down-shifting. So, DAP definitely offers a noticeable bump in performance, both from the engine and transmission shifting, over stock.
    - The flashing of the OVT tune is a little different than DAP. OVT works through an OBD-II interface via your laptop. You download their software and then use that to interface with the OBD device they send. There are a couple rounds of emails sent to OVT to get the final tune; but a painless process, nevertheless.

    The OVT tune, First Impressions:
Holy Shit! Are you fucking kidding me?! I liked the DAP tune, but OVT wins this one in my book. The power is just...there. And when you put the truck into "Tow/Haul", which activates the second included mapping...jesus. I got to 60 in a very short amount of time. It feels like a different truck. It feels like I now have access to the truck's potential. The shifting was definitely smoother. Hell of a lot smoother than stock - esp. 1-2 shift. Smooth. The shifting feature is cool. Kick it over to "S" and select any gear, and the truck will go up to that gear (as previously done in stock) but it will not shift back down. So, up-shifting is still controlled by the TCU/ECU. Again, though, the shifting is absolutely better than stock. Not just the smoothness, but the shift points and the lack of lag in shifting at higher rpms. And, the truck just didn't shift as much when the pedal was pushed. For example, going from 45-65 on the OVT tune the truck stayed in the same gear. However, that same 45-65 in stock, the truck would down-shift to achieve the same rate of acceleration.

In my humble opinion, this tune is faster than DAP. I know that's subjective, but that's all I can go by at this point in time. I will continue to update this thread with highway impressions and mpg. However, I felt like I was smiling more with this tune than with DAP. The "smile factor", if you will :) And I really did say those things above on my short first drive. Was fun. Let me know of any questions I may be able to answer.

It's Plug-n-Play simplicity is just what I was looking for.

I liked the dap tune too. However, your results are not just subjective. Dyno results prove that OVT makes more power. The results from my truck being dyno'd are on the first page of the ovt development thread and my build thread. I had 2 runs of each: stock, dap and ovt.

Thanks for sharing your experience with both tunes. Have you noticed any change in mpg?

I'm waiting for OVT to iron out all the kinks and i'll be ditching my dap and going with theirs. Just for the fact that it is as close to a custom tune without going to a speed shop, has me on board. The dap tune has treated my tundra well, but the updates that OVT has been pushing out is impressive vs the one-and-done dap.
