Nice build...Quite the remake. As a student of the "Con"..and a person who got their ass kicked on the "little sluice" I salute you. I did it in Jeeps though... in the early 2002ish days. This Tundy build and his adventures remind me of this:

I like that transfer case skid a lot! How does the crossmember mount to the frame? Does it use existing holes? Does the mounting bolt go through to the outside of the frame? (Trying to figure how these will work with my P&P sliders.)

Also, how long was the wait to receive once you ordered?

Took about a month from order to receiving the product.
The crossmember clamps onto the C-channel frame lip. It's design is to mainly brace an impact that would push the skid plate upwards so at either ends of the crossmember you have an "L" shaped bracket where it hugs the bottom and the side of the lip. I'll probably get it welded onto the frame at some point in time but for now I think it's definitely strong enough to handle what we throw at it.

That looks great! The crossmember looks like it really helps to protect the transfer case. Thanks for the info and the picts.

I wish. The problem is explaining to the gf why an electrician is at the house installing a 20 amp circuit in the garage. The reason better not start with a T and end with a K or A

Like learning to weld, learn to do electrical work, then you can just sneak it in one day.

Bump. Did you get to try these in the dirt yet?

I'm looking for a 37-38 in 18" flavor. Not many choices in that size for a real mud terrain. The yokohamas are under $300, same price as chinese Federals which have iffy reviews on balancing and being out of round. Are they made in Japan?

I would steer clear of the Federals. Only one of my buddies has tried 'em bet he hated 'em.

I’m in Moab right now and these tires have served me well. I went up the Escalator and Hells Gate at Hell’s Revenge with ease. Did the big 6’ drop ledge falls at Steel Bender and it gripped pretty good going down.

The Federal couragia mt had a more open tread pattern than some of the other options which it what I need. That and they are cheap. I'd rather buy 17" wheels than spend $450+ a tire for 18s. These are cheaper than the Federals right now.

Right on, looking forward to seeing some pictures. Sounds like the rubber compound is soft enough.

Yeah, lots of carnage. I went balls out on Metal Masher today, tried to go up them large 6’+ ledges and failed :( Smashed the camera I had on the rear diff into smithereens. My brand new Demello front bumper is now lop sided, the gaps on one side is bigger than the other. The rear high clearance bumper worked like a champ though!! I smashed it hard and it hasn’t tweaked at all. I’ll get pics up when I get back home. License plate got a lot of character now :D

Did you hit Fins and Things? Easy trail but pretty fun if you go start to finish.

Yeah, Fins and Things was definitely much easier and shorter. We were able to have a late lunch at the parking lot/picnic area right before the trail.

The one on Steel Bender where I tried to follow the Jeep? Nope. All the weight of the truck was on the driver side slider so I kept pivoting into the rock wall.

This one. Sounded like the rear bumper wedged you in and probably couldn’t even reverse after that.

Yeah it was really rough on the rear bumper but I was able to back out, but really scraped the shit out of it.

There's actually a lot of people in full size trucks that go hard but a lot of them don't have IFS, which I know is our weakness, but I'm fine with that. There's an event called Full Size Invasion that happens every spring in Moab (YouTube it) I missed it by a week this year, I really want to do it next year and let the others know I'm willing to go toe to toe.
