That makes sense. I like the white letters out too. I also have it on mine! Good looking truck man!

I have been looking for a decent tire for my truck, and pretty much decided on the Cooper AT3 XLT. These only weigh 1 pound each more than the factory Michelin AT2 crap tires.

On a side note, I also decided to level the truck a little. I have no plans of going to a bigger tire, so looking at different options and remember @Rex Kramer lowering his rear to level. This accomplishes the same thing with some benefits depending on truck configuration.

Lowering the rear to level the truck does offer additional benefits when compared to the more common method of lifting the front. Axle wrap is virtually eliminated, handling & tracking are great, and you can still see over the hood because it remains at factory height.

If you choose to lower the rear and plan to use the truck to haul & tow, I recommend the kit from SOS Performance including their air-bag kit. The shorter rear shocks can be purchased elsewhere... using your original leaf springs will also save you money and retain your overload spring. Any rear sway bar will require short end links as well as an elevated installation location. Lower the rear and you will need to rework your tail-pipe beyond the rear hanger, the existing turn out to the side will no longer clear the leaf pack. I lowered the rear of my truck 3.25", that's the minimum.

Great information. I have done some research. Most of the 3/4 ton guys have no issues, and for 54-105.00 is the way to go.

My only concern is the overload springs. Haven’t seen a lot of 1 tons do this without some spendy mods.

    Kinda tight in there. AD4CA3C7-DF96-407A-AB87-637DE446625A.jpg

I went with new Alcan springs, and omitted the overload spring because my original leaf packs were toast. As you can see, there is room for all sorts of things back there.

My old F250 had a block on it from the factory, I took it out and it lowered the rear about 1.75 to 2". Truck lost alot of driveline vibration as well without the block...we have a couple work trucks like your I think Chevy has a factory block too

I have had these tires for about 10k miles, we are getting back to winter here in Montana, I usually leave my truck sitting for 4 to 5 at a time. These tires have started to develop flat spots on them, they vibrate and shake the truck till they warm up and get back round. I like cooper tire, just do not like the softness of the rubber compound.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I can't stand flat spotting. My truck sits unless needed for working. It has sat for weeks at a time.

Yes it's pretty annoying..these came on the truck when I bought it. I'll be switching to Duratracs here soon. I have had good luck with those. I also looked at the Mastercraft CXT coursers but they are made by cooper as well...

None so far. My dad also has these on his diesel 2500 for about a year now. He had a heavy and a bed full of tools.. I'm not quite to 10k -no flat spots on either. Both sets are 10 ply. Mine still look new.

Yikes I’m putting a set on next week. I drive 25k miles per year so I hope this isn’t an issue!

Not in a cold climate but would think many brands would be prone when parked weeks at a time in colder weather.

Flat spot experience: When Harvey was flooding our area, had a stock 2wd 07 4Runner with fresh street Michelins. It was in about 4 in of water on driveway which was surprisingly cool. To help prevent flooding we decided to drive on ramps and lift the rear with Jack stands. Plan worked. I was also surprised how flat the tires were as we got it off the ground. Least of our worries, 2 days later they were not noticeable still on jack stands.

I will probably still get these coopers or tires made by cooper.

One of my buddies just purchased Hercules brand tires for his 1T and really likes them.

Anyone have experience with the XLTs on ice/compacted snow? I can't find any true experience online reviews. My BFG KO2 are worn out and was not impressed them on ice Even damp pavement breaking traction at 30-40 mph and getting on the pedal a little... I did like the KO2 for snow and mud and pretty quiet on the highways.

Yep. I've driven on Coopers for years and never had that problem, but then, my truck doesn't sit for days and days either.

In my experience, they're great on compacted snow [like going up my steep driveway].

I have KO2s right now: they wear and handle great on pavement for me, EXCEPT they SUCK on wet pavement. Going back to Coopers next time.

Honestly, I haven't found a tire does 'well' on ice/compacted snow. I've tried the original KO's, Duratracs, Goodyear Ultra Terrains and others. While some do better than others, none are excellent performers and still require careful driving. I love reading about tire reviews that people say "These tires suck in snow/wet pavement. I stomp on it from a dead stop and the tires break lose!" Well no shit lol. I will be trying the Falken Wildpeak AT3's next month but don't anticipate them being any better in ice/compacted snow. As long as they handle well, low noise, look good and do well in regular snow, I will be happy.

If they made the XLT's in 265/75/16, I would be trying a set but they don't so I will try the Falkens.

Agreed on your general point here: however, KO2's spin EASILY on wet pavement when you are NOT romping on the peddle. They're far worse than anything else I've run.

My experience with them in the snow is not good. They do not handle well, i switched half way through winter last year to studded Duratracs and was much happier. Wet roads they do well and limit hydroplaning due to the deep lugs which I do like. But snow is a no go for me with them.

This is good to know, did the tires not feel stable in snow? I’ve had these tires on my purchase list but given the winters we have here in Utah this could be a deal breaker for me...

For me they did not feel comfortable at speed while driving in snowy conditions I would slip and slide all over, i keep 550lbs in the bed during winter, and I just don't like them. This is MY experience tho with them. Others have had different results but I have had horrible results with them in the snow. Every other condition but snow they have been awesome.

The Cooper Disc AT3 LT's probably would have performed a lot better in these conditions, from my research. Glad you said something, I almost dropped the money on the XLT's.

Now it looks like AT3 LT Coopers, Falken Wild Peak AT, Hercules Terra Trac AT II.

I have general grabbers now, but I had Falken Wildpeak AT3W's previously. They are mountain snowflake rated and are awesome in Rain, snow and ice. I'm going back to them next. I live in Minnesota so that's about 8 months of winter ,plenty of experience-lol

22,000 miles on these and the tread depth looks almost like a new tire. I drive hard and also off-road which is tough on tires. My OEM Bridgestones only got 32,000 miles. I am impressed by the Coopers.

Does anyone tow regularly with the Cooper AT XLTs? I'm currently on some Toyo Open Country ATs, LT295/65R20. I drive on everything from highway, to light off road, ice/snow, and towing a 27' Travel Trailer about 5,000 miles per year. I'm due for new tires soon and looking for something that 'has it all.'

Also, with these size tires I have on, there is some slight rubbing when I turn sharp (the previous owner took off the inside of the wheel well that normally covers the fog lights to make room for them). I'd like to go just a tad smaller so the rubbing doesn't happen, and perhaps I can find and install those internal fog light panel covers... Does that mean I should get 285/60R20?

I'm being quoted $290 per tire in CO for LT285/60R20 on the XLTs. Discount told me they're gonna have a 10% discount for Black Friday starting over the weekend though. Close to what others have paid?

Discount Tire matched a Walmart price of $255 per. Also got $40 off for being a AAA member. Bought 295/70r18 so not sure how that compares to 20", but these were listed as $280 or $290 before the price match.

Just want to say thanks to the OP & everyone who has chimed in on this thread. I had my 275/70-R18 AT3's mounted up yesterday and they look great.

Paid $220/tire minus military discount at Discount Tire and i went ahead and got the RH warranty.

Another item worthy of mentioning was there was another Cooper Discoverer tire in the inventory very similar to the AT3 that was listed at $180/tire in the same size. The mileage and ply rating was the same and the tread was almost identical. I came very close to going that route but backed out only bc i couldn't find any reviews or opinions on them. Possibly bc they're so new (??).

And, ofc, I can't remember the names of them.

I had my heart set on Wildpeak's but now... especially after seeing these in person i'm really torn... I'm ready for the bias comments but compared to WP's... what is the general thoughts?
I live in NE Ohio so winters and rain are my biggest on road hurdles. used to wheel when i had a Taco in WV but if i'm honestly, I'm not taking my $45k Tundra off road like that... some light wheelin' may happen... but mostly looks, rain, winter and ride comfort is what i'm faced with.
