So since I picked up my new RW wheels yesterday, time for some new rubber.
Did a lot of research this morning and found what I’m looking for...the new Cooper AT3 XLT. I have not come across a dedicated thread for these tires so here we go...

    http://us.coopertire.com/tires/discoverer-at3-xlt.aspx

    02A48AB9-260E-4AF6-AB42-069EAADB5077.png

They have only been out for a month or two. I’ve always heard excellent things about the AT3 but never cared for looks too much. These new ones look awesome! A pretty aggressive looking tire but with excellent road manners. There are two other AT3 versions just released also...the AT3 4S and the AT3.

This truck is roughly 90% road use and most of that is towing. My main needs are low road noise, excellent wet traction and towing capabilities.

I ordered a 285-75-17 (33.8x11.5) which weighs in at 58lbs! These also come with an impressive 60,000 tread warranty.
The other tire I considered was the ST Maxx and those weigh 65lbs for the same size. That’s a big weight difference to me.

They will be getting mounted up tomorrow so stand by for pictures and initial review.

I have run several sets of regular AT3's on 3 different trucks and have nothing but good things to say about them.

They are Worx wheels, just can't find the model.
    They look sharp.

Ya I really can’t find any bad reviews on them except for maybe the overall looks of sidewall. Not anymore!

This is just a rough guess...but I will be saving about 15lbs per tire/wheel combo.
So roughly 60lbs total! That’s a huge difference in my opinion. Might get a little more power and MPG back. Not much, but some...

Love the Cooper Doscoverers. My dad had some and they lasted a long time. Is the XLT extra deep tread?

Looking forward to pics and your thoughts. I just stumbled across this last week and posted a thread that they were now out, but haven't seen anyone running them yet. I have only heard good things about the At3, but never run them. I did run a set of the Mastercraft AXT (Cooper's house brand) that is very similar to the AT3, and the only thing I did not like about them was the sidewalls, same as AT3. I had wanted the Ridge Grapplers for the last year or so, but if the AT3 XLT gets good reviews, I will strongly thing about switching back to those. I'm running the 275/70/18, but the XLT and Mastercraft AXT both make the 295/70/18 in the same weight as my current Nittos.

I cannot confirm that but that’s what they make it sound like. But I think the main difference is the sidewall.

Off top of my head, somewhere around $235 which is nice. I’m used to paying way more than that for my 20’s!

Just checked...the same size tire as what I’m getting in a Toyo MT weighs 69lbs.

11lbs more than the Cooper AT3.

So I'll post from a perspective of a 4Runner owner. Previously ran BFG KO2's 265 C-rated and recently upgraded to 285/70/17 E-rated Cooper AT3 XLT. I've had them for about 10 days and so far I'm really impressed with the ride. The road manners are very good. Quiet, handles well and for an E-rated tire not super harsh or bouncy but definitely firmer than the C-rated BFG. I haven't taken them out on any hard trails yet but did take them for a spin on backcountry road and air'd down they ride very nice. Compared to my BFG's they handle much better on the road. I've only heard good things about and went with them based on Overland Journal's recommendation. Yes the only thing that held me back in the past was the relatively tame appearance but not anymore. I plan to take these things through all my adventures and think they'll do very good. The only con I've noticed so far is intermittent steering wheel vibration at 60mph. I plan to take them back and get them rebalanced after a few hundred miles.

I've run E Rated AT3's on a 3/4 diesel, 8000 pounds unloaded, and pulling a 20K pound toy hauler. The things last and work well in all but mud. it's an AT after all.

The thing that I hated about the AT3's was cured with the ATP's which are also good, and that's stone retention, so they don't load up with pebbles. Looks like these may have the same challenge as the AT3? I really do like the look of these new ones when it comes time for a new set of shoes.

Are they severe snow rated? (Mountain+Snowflake) Can't seem to find any info that says they are so I'm going to assume not.

I don’t think the XLT ones are but check the AT3 4S. I thought they made those for 4 seasons including snow but can’t confirm.

No, I haven't had a chance to drive them in rain yet. I live in Utah where we hardly get any rain. We do get plenty of snow however and time will tell how well it performs in snow and ice.

Well, they’re on!! I only put about 10miles on them coming home but they’re are rediculously quiet. Quietest AT I’ve ever been on.
And couldn’t be happier with the looks of them paired with my RW wheels. Going to a spin this evening so will update then.
Also glad I left my spacers in. They sit perfect.
