Mine are 7-8/32nds and totally worthless on anything less than maybe wet pavement.

Yes, I am very happy with them. As mentioned I go on construction sites (500 acre land development sites) with sand, gravel, mud, etc. every day which is hard on tires, but they are holding up very good.
I do cross rotation every 5,000 miles which I think helps a lot. It ensures that each wheel gets rotated to all 4 locations on the truck so they wear even and the cross let them rotate in the opposite direction so it cancels out feathering/saw-tooth outside edge wear which is common on trucks. I am sold on these and will definitely get the same again next time.

Finally was able to make an appointment at Discount Tire yesterday. They rebalanced them and vibration is totally gone now. Will see on the way to work today if I notice any flatspotting vibes after sitting overnight, but on the way home on the freeway yesterday noticed nothing . They said one wheel was 2oz. off.

I've noticed on several occasions from my tire shop where the wheel wasn't cleaned well and the balance weights weren't sticking and half-off or missing completely. I've had to remove, clean the wheel and put back on several times myself. Like too often seen, folks take the easiest and fastest route and don't take time to do the job right. Just another wheel balance variable that I think is more common than most of us think.

I hate when this happens, but I also clean my wheels before going in as well (pressure wash).

I moved to Centramatics and no longer worry about balancing heavy tires. Just rotations from now on.

So I know nothing about this option. Just curious about how it works and how do you set-up?
Thanks to let me know if you have time.

I did notice some wheel vibration on the way to work this morning (I drive the freeway and the on-ramp is only a few blocks from where I live so you get going up to speed fast). It went away fairly quickly but at this point I'm convinced these tires do hold an out of round shape after sitting. It was fairly warm last night (~75°) so I wouldn't think stiff cold rubber would be an issue. I did not notice anything when coming home from work (same thing, on freeway right away). Still felt super smooth at cruising speed after everything seemed 'settled'. I may double check what DT set the pressure to.

I tried to take a vid of the steering wheel shaking but I'm stupid and didn't realize the camera was zoomed in, I might post it just to get the idea of it.

It doesn't matter to me much as long as it goes away quickly, if over time there's still lots of tread left but it takes longer to smooth out then I'll start to be annoyed.

I agree with your assessment and had the same problem on the BFG KO2s I ran on my '07 4Runner, but think it is a fairly common issue found with those tires. I haven't seen the same yet on my Cooper 295/70 18 XLTs, but they are fairly new and these problems usually show-up for me in the colder months. I'm running 40 PSI on front and back. Hope I don't start seeing this problem with my Tundra, but like you, I'm willing to accept it as long as it always clears-up pretty quick.
    Best.

I had them for 9000 miles. Yes they do flat spot.
I had ongoing issues with them vibrating at certain speeds, times, and them keeping balance. I think the set I had were defective, took a ton of weights to try and balance a couple of them. After 9000 mi and 5 tries at rebalance, my tire store gave me full credit for them and I purchased Wildpeaks.

Bumping up an old thread but looks like the Goodyear merger is kinda screwing things up.

Either they decided to rework Coopers site or Cooper has reduced size availability. Lots of sizes now missing on their site.

Only 4 sizes in 17 listed now, spec sheet is spartan as well.

Happy to see the 285s, 295s, and I'm partial to the 305:rolleyes:, but I'm surprised about no 315 or 35s.

After 28k miles, I retired the Cooper ATS XLT today.

When back with Michelin and will run emergency strap chains if needed….or just not go out when 12+” of snow is on the ground.

Overall a good tire that does everything well but the wear department.

-Very quiet tire. I was totally shocked. Through the life of the tire they never got loud.

-Snow/wet traction was amazing on the first 50% of the tire.

    -Sidewalls are tough.

I would recommend the tire even though it wore fast for me.

I’ve got 750-1k on 275/70 ATP’s. Couldn’t be any happier so far. I see where they are $187 on Discount. I paid $220 not even 2 months ago.

I’ve been looking at getting these, but noticed they don’t come in stock size 275/65/18. So I’d have to bump up to 275/70. Not sure if that’s due to the merger or not. Now considering the Wild Peaks.

Check the tire weight on Wild Peaks. In my size they are 9 pounds heavier per tire.

Just got 275/70/18 installed and I'm happy with them. Wildpeaks I believe are heavier and taller on same size.

Are you on stock suspension? Any noticeable difference in ride or acceleration now with the heavier tires?

Looks like I could stay with sl in the wild peaks and only be a few pounds heavier than stock. If I go up to 6 ply they’re about 9 pounds heavier. The issue I’m running into with the Coopers is that in 275/70, they only have 10 ply available and that’s a really heavy tire.

I wouldn’t be getting 10 ply if you can help it. Way overkill and obviously heavy. A couple pounds isn’t all that bad.

Weight isnt as big of a deal on these trucks. I ran 65lb ATZp3s and there wasnt much difference in driving than stock. It was noticeable, but the truck was in no way "slow".

E load range however, isnt really my thing. 10 ply is simply a bit too stiff. Im currently on the new MT Baja ATs and considering a change to 35" Toyo RTs to go from a E load to C load range.

Yes stock suspension. Removed both front mud guards and bumper flaps to clear rubbing. Ride is the same, very quiet. Haven't noticed any decrease in acceleration but I always gun it when I drive. Lol
