Because that’s about as half assed of an install as can be.

Please be more specific. BTW you do know this is a "hide away" amp. We would like to hear how it is half assed. Details please

Sure it would. Hell...it'll be best behind the haed unit. However, once placed in a position that requires removal of the head unit or the glove box, it becomes a major PIA to access the gains/settings.

Judging by your previous comments, I'm sure you will have something let me know of my ineptitude on car audio. I'm sure you are going to tell me that my gains should be set at first tune and never touched again. Well, I have always been one to tweak the settings for about a week or so after installation.

I appreciate the positive input though.

I may be new to this forum, but not new to forums in general. There are always gonna be those who insist on letting you know that THEY are better than you. :anonymous:

Not trying to be negative but here are my concerns with the install since you asked-

    1. There is very little storage in these trucks that is easily accessible so sticking that thing in the glove box is not ideal.

    2. I’m assuming you cut wires behind the dash? If so, that is a “no no” for most people as you lose the ability to return the truck to stock form if you need something from Toyota or want to sell the truck. I’ve changed the head unit, every speaker and the amp and did not cut one wire. 100% reversible with all stock plugs and connectors unaltered.

    3. In line with 1 and 2, any potential buyer (be it private party or dealer on trade) is going to see that thing in there and think WTF. Amps belong under seats not in glove boxes.

    4. Any amp worth installing should require a larger gauge power wire to feed the juice. Can’t see one in your pic - what did you use for a power wire?

    5. It doesn’t look secure. Not sure if you do any off-roading or driving over rough roads but I wouldn’t want something with a live 12v wire bouncing around unsecured in the glove box.

    6. Wire loom is your friend in making these installs look clean and professional.

in the end - all that matters is you’re happy with it. It’s your truck and we are just opinions on the internet.

I just ordered the fuse diode from HKB in Australia that is supposed to bump the alternator output .5-1 volt. I’m getting around 13.5v now. Mainly doing this for AGM battery but audio benefit should be additional bonus. I can let you know what the voltage goes up to after install if you’re interested.

Appreciate that, but you lost my vote when you started assuming things. I'm not running a factory head unit. I can easily swap the factory head unit back in, and it should take me 10 minutes to do so. Plug and play. Also, this amp is an Alpine power pack. These are "inline" amps. Kind of limited on install solutions. Anyways, good day sir.

You must have missed the question mark and “if so”. To each their own.

I think has been everyone else since the beginning. Make a thread asking for help because you’ve messed something up and then tell everyone that is nice enough to try and help they are wrong and you know what you’re doing...

Dude, you started by bragging that you were not a noob and that you have worked at Circuit city doing car audio installations...you lost us all right there. We were expecting much more from a Circuit city installer or maybe not? Dont know. The questions and the install looks nooby to me. There is a lot of info on here and on youtube for you not to know there was a crappy amp under the seat that needed to be toss away. So do your research before you head into an installation like this. Any way good luck with your thread and your install. Sorry, Im done on this one.

He’s a professional. We should be looking up to him for his innovate techniques. Leaving all the wiring exposed is great. Not as great as screwing new speakers directly to the door panel, but great none the less.....
