@Kwikfish look into carpro hydro2 and/or reload instead of, or in addition to wax. They are easy to apply, long lasting sealants.

Yes carpro brand. So easy to use and apply. Will save you time of time and effort. It'll do just what you want, keep it looking good when you get around to washing it. Carpro also makes ech2o, which is a nice waterless wash for in between washes or when it's too cold for a hose.

@SouthBoundSteve any ideas about a product called YWax ceramic spray? It has 15% silica, compared to 5% for reload? Would this be considered a ceramic or just treatment for ceramic coating. Seems like maybe application would be tough at such a high percentage. Not much online about it..

Hey brother, just a heads up. I bought a $16.00 foam cannon on Amazon, and it’s worked perfectly. I use it pretty often, and it’s solid. I’m no expert, but I can’t imagine those expensive ones are worth it.

Wash using the 2 bucket method, then clay bar, and it's ok that it's wet when you clay, then wash again, next apply a sealant like hydro2 or reload, lastly dry It off with a blower and or microfiber towels. You only need to clay maybe once every year or 2 depending on how rough your paint gets. As far as sealant maybe 2-4 times a year will do, since using hydro2, I no longer wax and I'm fine with that, it takes too long. Then wash as often as you can, maybe consider a drying aid or detail spray such as carpro ech2o or similar for some washes. The beauty of hydro2 is that a wash and hydro2 application will only take about an hour, it's a huge time saver, which I love. I work similar shifts as you do. Look into getting a bottle of aerospace303 for all you interior and exterior plastic, headlights, taillights, running boards, tires.... It's cheap and a great universal product. Again it goes on quick and easy.

Check out Optimum No Rinse or Carpro Ech20. You can wash your truck pretty fast and effortlessly with those. You can also use them to make quick detailer.

I use a foam cannon with Chemical Guys Honeydew foam when I have more time.

After it’s clean, put your sealer on. Check out Carpro Hydro2. It’s expensive, but it’s a concentrate that will last a long time. That stuff is amazing. Carpro Reload is great also.

All these new products are so amazing. No more 8 hour days of washing and waxing. And these easy spray on sealants last longer than a wax.

I bought a clay bar kit last fall, but haven't had a chance to do my truck yet. I have never used a clay bar before, but after reading the stories of it, I'm looking forward to all of the pollen being gone before long, and really detailing my truck. After the re-wash, it's good to polish, and then wax on top of that?

Nice, is that the little round pad looking thing? I used a mint and loved it. This detailing stuff is getting simpler every day. I cant imagine I'll ever use a bar of clay on a full vehicle again.

Yeah, it’s round - kind of feels like a rubber pot holder.

In a test for another member, I used a Nanoskin mitt, and went back over it with clay to see if it picked up anything the mitt left behind. It didn’t at all. I see no reason to ever use real clay again.

It’s a red sponge disk with a black rubber surface. I only got the hood and one door done last night before the rain hit - and it still hasn’t stopped. Hopefully I can get back at it today. I will see if I can snap some comparison pics.

I used the Adams clay mit and it marred the trucks all over the place

I had to spend another hour taking those off. Had plenty of lube and truck was out of the sun, still did it. Won’t use it again. Might use Adams new stretchy clay.

I first GooGone'd any visible tar and tree sap off first. For claying, I use Mother's, was on sale at my local CrappyTire, a good wash, detailing spray to lube. Comes with 2 bars and I still have 1.5 left. Roll as you go, throw it out if you drop it or you can't get a fresh surface anymore. After polish and Collinite 845:

I got all but the passenger doors done on the Subaru. Gotta say, the synthetic clay is pretty dope (that’s a compliment). Did a total detail (compound, polish, wax - all Meguiars) on the finished panels and this 2014 Subaru looks $$$. We bought it new - this is the first time it has seen any product other than a local pressure wash and some simple green on the wheels. Looks new. Need to keep up with it better. My Tundra gets much more attention FYI.

I lived my clay mitt. Everyone should invest in some form of synthetic clay, it's so easy to use and you wont believe how smooth your paint will be. I've used real clay several times and I really dont see it being any better than synthetic. I still have some for glass and tight areas but it 99% synthetic for me from now on. The mitt takes no time to do the full truck, before it would have been hours
