If they're like the 2nd Gen, there's a plastic plug on the door jam to access the screw to remove the handle. Youtube is your friend. A second option is to find the factory part for the color you want if you don't want to paint or wrap them. For the window trim, I was thinking either wrap gloss black, plastidip, or replace it with factory black trim.

I thought about plasti dip, but I’m not sure how it would look on Midnight Black Metallic or if I’d be better trying to wrap and color match it. That’s my biggest struggle in de chroming the truck.

Finally got a picture under normal lighting. 3M gloss black door handle and window tram wrap, and emblem delete.

Looks great! For the window trim wrap, is it tucked on the edges, or did you have to cut a straight line to match it perfectly with the edge?

Damn. You would think just buying those little pieces would be a lot less.

The pieces are not expensive, but you need to have lots of experience to do a clean job that lasts.

PS: I have bought Lunar Rock vinyl wrap. I will attempt wrapping the mustache myself one of these days. Should be easier than window trims, we'll see.

Thats the challenge I too will have, experience with wraps. I probably would end up spending $500 just on materials and it still would look shatty the first 6-10 attempts.

Let us know how the moustache turns out if you attempt it.

Below is an image of our Build-Out in Canada for a LTD TRD OR. Handles [supposedly] come colour matched so would not need to cover that chrome out, only the window trim, moustache and bumper. The badging on the side [TUNDRA / Limited] can be blacked out [once again on the Build-Out] for the low low price of $260 CDN o_Oo_Oo_O!!

$260? Ridiculous, yank the chrome emblems & replace with some black eBay offerings (or overlays.) No one will be the wiser.

I mean just buying the door handle outside piece pre painted. And window trim. I’m luck my limited dc doesn’t have the chrome window trim. But the chrome handles are really bothering me lol

I called my local dealer to see if the outside piece of the door handle can be bought separately. They told me it is only sold as a complete kit, $248 per handle. I guess you can call another dealer to see if the above is accurate, or they just lied to me.

Wait so the whole kit would be $992? That is crazy! Please tell me they meant the whole kit was $248.

Posted this on the Accessories thread, but I thought it was worth posting here too:

It looks like there is an OEM Badge Overlay kit to black out the emblems on the Limited trim.

Toyota P/N is PT948-34223-02. It's pricey but includes all of the needed overlays to black out the emblems INCLUDING the "T" on the front grill.

I hope they make the individual overlay for the front grill "T" available soon. No way am I buying the entire set for a single overlay.

Can confirm that here in Canada, but is not cheap [$260CDN]:

What they do not tell you is that whether or not it includes the 'Limited' chrome badge. One would assume...

Supposedly it does. There is a listing for the part by Elmhurst Toyota that pictures the overlay set. It shows the Limited badge in the kit.

    https://parts.elmhursttoyota.com/oe...limited-black-emblem-overlay-set-pt9483422302

It's worth noting...kind of a bummer...that while the kit includes overlays for all of the badges, you'll still have chrome door handles (at least here in the states) on the Limited trim. You'll have to handle those separately (no pun intended! haha).

! Handles in Canada on that Trim are red...so the picture shows on the dealer website.

If you pick up a relatively cheap SR5, most of it is already blacked out/color matched. :notsure: I added wheels, tires, badges and inserts on back. IMG_20220205_134045__01.jpg

Funny nobody has mentioned doing something about the black "fender flares". IMO they look just awful regardless of the color of the vehicle. Just another part that adds an unnecessary "busy" look that will no doubt fade over time. Would look so much nicer if they did not exist as in the previous generation.

    Agreed,
    Not mentioned, but contemplated.
No doubt fellas are already contacting Sparks about swapping out the black for the TRD Sport color-matched equivalents.
Curious what they will run if the friggin' painted door handles amount to $1100.

When I asked the sales department they were no help. They said you couldn’t order anything for a 2022 tundra… I might get into wrapping as side hobbie lol. Anyone order army green wrap yet?

Yes very much agreed. Ordered a Platinum Supersonic Red and drove an hour North yesterday to a dealer who had one in stock.
Loved the color but the fender flares and chrome door handles look awful. Not sure on the cost to vinyl or paint but will decide in April when it arrives.
