It looks like you convinced some people to buy this exhaust. It says out of stock now. LOL.
It's nice to see that you ventured out and tried something different than the typical TRD dual or DD systems like everyone else. But don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the other brands by any means. I have a TRD dual myself. It's just good to see there are cheaper options available with good results.

I had a Corvette also, it was cammed out built motor with B&B exhaust. It's supposed to be one of the more quiet exhaust for Corvette but still had drone like crazy. I loved the sound at idle and WOT though woohoo!

Yeah... I wasnt trying to bash the TRD/DD options... but wanted to try something more reasonably priced.

I loved the Vette... and will eventually have another.
Mine had SW headers and full 3" catless exhaust, meth injection, Fast intake, A&A supercharger, etc...
Made 636 rwhp and drove like a bone stock car.

Did you end up getting a kit with a muffler included (if so which one)? Or did you buy your own muffler?

I did not get the muffler with the kit. Just purchased the one from summit from the thread. All in for about $380 and a metal blade for my sawzall. A few hours of lining everything up.

    Thanks

@Dragracer_Art thanks for experimenting and posting results. I have an SR5 with TRD exhaust. After 6k miles, I can’t stand the helicopter sound at certain cruising speeds. Between wanting to de chrome, level and lose the helicopter sound effects, looks like this is my alternative. I should be able to use my TRD tailpipes, correct? I do like how yours are tucked in slightly though.

Unlike the flange/gasket OEM systems, the ebay kit is all slip fit and u-bolt clamps.
The TRD pipes are also a smaller diameter. (2-1/8" vs 2-1/2")

If I were you Id buy the ebay kit + Summit muffler and sell the TRD system... You will still have money leftover and it will sound way better.

You can slip the tips in or out quite a bit depending where you want them to exit.
Ive since moved mine a little further out. They are about flush with the lower lip of the bumper.

Been there too. I documented adding H pipes and resonators to the TRD system (in the thread link below). Just offering another alternative since you already have the TRD system on the truck.

But as Dragracer_Art said, you could probably sell the TRD system for more than what his system would cost.

    Good luck either way.

    It's a '71 superbeetle
The 2332 is out of the car now and on the engine stand. Just haven't had the time to go back together with it yet. Lifter bores got sleeved and I have most everything needed to build it... except time. lol.

I slapped a nice stock 1641 dualport motor together so it could be driven around until the 2332 is ready to go in.
I might go with a turbo and fuel injection too... so the project may drag on for awhile.

I bought the car as a surprise for my wife a little over a year ago and have probably sunk $10k into it since. lol
It is a cool little car though.

Story of my life! I either have time and no spare cash or I have money and no time. Getting my act together though one month at a time. My '70 a 2074 with a short 3rd and 4th gear. Its been stored for around 10 years while I lived in apartments and now its time to bring it home. I also have an oval window beside it, if you look close you'll see the fender. I can't wait to have both of those back home so I can throw money and time into them. I'll post a thread in "other builds" when I bring it home next month.

I'd love to have an oval or split... but one money pit is enough for me right now. lol

Good luck with them... they are cool little cars !

Just wanted to update this thread.

Exhaust has been on for over 6 months now and is still as good as the day I installed it. No issues whatsoever and still sounds great.
